Not The mags but the music.
There have been a few music posts on here recently and I wondered if there are many Jazz fans? If there are, post your favourites.
To get things going Ill start with these
i have a taste for jazz,
i'm a big fan of art pepper, herbie hancock, miles davis etc.
I'd wholehartedly recommmend medeski martin and wood, a mind blowing trio from nyc.
Currently got lou donaldson on in the car and blue train in the cd at home.
Bill Evans and Monk ftw
Played in small bands and big bands between 18-24
I was a member at Ronnies for many years in the 80's
Not free jazz or Trad though, I'd rather listen to thrash metal.
Can't say I've ever searched YouTube for jazz, however I've got a pretty extensive collection of Jazz, Coltranes' and One Down, One Up live at the Half Note is simply brilliant as his rendition of Nature Boy in a Columbia collection.
Modern stuff, well Avishai Cohen and Joshua Redman were both stunning live. Keith Jarrett, naturally, and the Swedish group EST.
Random stuff every one should listen to: JFK Quintet and The Jazz Crusaders, live at the Lighthouse
Oscar Peterson and 'that sort of thing' is great ...sorry, I'm not an aficionado but he was the first live act I ever saw.
Steely Dan - the acceptable face of rock-jazz crossover?
Cleo Laine was kind of fun too.
Nice....
Grreat
Mmmmmm.
Talking of Steely Dan, recognize this:
Jazz is just wrong and jazzists should be burnt at the stake. 👿
