Awsomes.
Kayak23 - you could always just saw through the nails and dismantle them that way, instead of trying to rip them apart?
Things have moved on a small amount down by the river but progress is slow due to other commitments. It's looking very Autumnal down there now.
Been making a couple of screens to fill the apex of the roof. Used two old galvanised buckets, mounted into a panel with a sort of a starburst effect made using constructional veneer. A hole cut in the bucket bottoms takes the Pyrex bowls which are then siliconed in.
The outside of it now sorta puts me in mind of the Third Eye... 😀
One of the two panels being made up.

Gluing the Pyrex bowl into place, weighted in.

The panel fitted into the rear of the shed (excuse the mess...)

I was watching George Clarke's show the other night and saw that another couple had used washing machine doors for their shed on a trailer, but mounted the opposite way to mine.

Wish my folks had a farm, might be doing the same!
😀
I was going to say you could flip the doors as they might capture more light if fitted the other way round.
Fantastic sheds and really love that floor on new one. So easy to do but looks amazing.
Impressive sheds here. I wish I had the skills.
This thread needs moving over to the Chat side.
Fantastic conclusion to the allotment shed Kayak. Loving the construction of the Riverside shed. Keep the pictures coming.
Brilliant again, what a lovely spot. I especially like the door handle.
Merry Christmas.
Great shed!
Have the TV guys been to film yet?
No, not yet. Getting a bit nervous 😕
Nice
Missed a bit of this.
Have added to favourites, so I don't miss any more.
Good luck with the telly people!
Hey STWerists.
I made the shed finalists in my category!
Public voting is now open for Shed of the Year individual categories. There are four sheds per category.
For some reason though my shed is in the 'Cabin/Summerhouse' category. Weird for an allotment shed but there you go.
I'd really appreciate it if you (and every person you know!) Could take the time to have a look over the sheds and pick your favorite, and hey, if your favorite is my shed, 'The Shed of Dreams', then all the better! 😉
I'd really appreciate the support from you good folks for the hard work I've been putting into this shed dream.
Follow the below link to vote.
Thanks.

Sure thing - well done!
oh - that Boatcrash is nice though 😉
Yeah I know. The other one is pretty awesome too!
To be quite honest, [pessimistic side]I think they have got me beat but then I suppose they have the luxury of owning their own homes and gardens, where as I had to fit in with the regulations on an allotment! 😀 [/pessimistic side]
Still, nice to be in the finalists anyway.
Cheers folks 🙂
Some scrotes tried to jemmy open my shed last night. 😥
Mad thing was, I saw them running off.
It was 3.25am and I heard a loud metallic clang/crack. Looked out the window (girlfriend lives in a tiny road that has gates to the allotments at the end of it, my shed is visible from the gates) and I saw two blokes hoofing over the 8 foot fence/gate, peg it up the road and get into a car and drive off with the lights off. I was speechless to be honest... Tried to shine a torch at them but the one on my phone didn't work for some reason.
I went into the allotments right after and all looked ok. It was only when I came down this evening that I saw damage to my door.
Are soles 👿
Me being paranoid but wondering if this shed of the year thing has made me more of a target.
Thing is, there's really nowt worth taking in the shed. It's all from the tip shop! 😐
I need to set up some Home Alone style man traps!
Bastards! Goodness only knows what they were looking for, maybe to nick the stove?
Maybe looking for mowers etc. The allotments have break ins now and then. The paranoid in me wonders why seemingly only my shed was targeted. Too pimped? 😳
They did get inside it seems, originally I'd thought they hadn't. Ironically, they stole my crowbar... 🙄
The drawers in my cabinet were all a bit open (I'd never leave drawers a bit open!)
Strange though how the door was shut again on their way out, almost like they used a crowbar to re-shut it... Weird. :-/
Scrotes 👿
By the way good stw sheddists. Voting for category finalists ends tomorrow, Wednesday. I'd really appreciate a vote if you have a mo.
Cheers all.

Voted 🙂 Allotment shed break-ins are pretty common sadly; dunno why they bother as nobody leaves any stihl strimmers in them!
Voted.
looks lovely btw.
Voted! Missed this thread the first (and second and third) time round, great stuff. Very impressive!
you're an inspiration..
I love the creativity and style
Thanks folks. Very kind 🙂
Voted 🙂
Great stuff BTW
Had a great, but mega long day yesterday with The Shed of the Year film crew (started 11am, left about 8.30).
I was pretty nervous and found it difficult to appear natural but think I stumbled through it ok.
The film crew were an awesome bunch, so friendly and funny and made the day much easier for me.
Thanks for anyone that voted for me. It's closed now but they say they've had record voting figures this year.
I can relax a little bit now.... 🙂
Dam, missed the chance to vote. A splendid shed, will keep yours in mind as I am battling with my own at the moment.
Liking your cable reel chair too. I made one into a coffee table using a lazy susan bearing so it could spin around 🙂
Phew!!!
Been and done the filming today for Shed of the Year, down in Maidenhead.
Really great day, meeting some amazing characters. I have a new found respect for people who work in television though as that was really looooooong doing several takes and angles of EVERYTHING.
Hanging out with the two driveable sheds.

Met Walter from Aviemore who won last year. Lovely bloke and we talked about Mcmoonter....
Fantastic day anyway. Knackered now. Thanks again to all of you who voted and no doubt I'll be spamming the forum again come July when the show is aired and I can cringe deeply at myself on tv... 😳
Did you win?
We all had to sign a confidentiality agreement so I'm not at liberty to say at this point.
It's been hard ignoring the questioning of my family and all the students I teach!
It'll be on telly in July though.

Well done chap, please bump when programme's on!
Met Walter from Aviemore who won last year. Lovely bloke and we talked about Mcmoonter....
Walter is an amazing guy with boundless enthusiasm. We had an open day here a few weeks back as part of the Shelter exhibition and the Thousand Huts Campaign at the local museum. We have some architects coming in a week or so too.
Kayak, the filming process is a marathon, but when it's all edited together it's wonderful what they create. I suffered from the Deer in the headlights/trying to look natural conflict too. Meeting the other shed builders was a highlight.
Good luck with the vote. I can see you doing many comissioned sheds in the future.
Best of luck. 3 really nice completed sheds on here. Love the imagination and obvious skill that's gone into your builds. Really excellent stuff!
In the diary! Props to you sir, that is one amazing space! Question - Home or shed? 😆
Shome?
😀
Looking forward tonight's episode. You deserve to win.
good luck , fellow stubby digit!
😀
Mines not on until the last episode btw, but some fantastic ones in tonight.
Missus has buggered off for the weekend, this will be top of the pops I reckon.
On another note, your shed has been an inspiration for my daughters future play house, maybe with a few more washing machine windows for extra entertainment.
I'm watching.. And enjoying.
I still much prefer the recycled/homemade sheds...
'I'm watching.. And enjoying.

+1, I think the ingenuity in recycling materials makes the process more of an adventure.
Yes I think the competition always ends up a little controversial as to what constitutes a shed.
Some lovely shots of mine in there. The camera they used was amazing 🙂
Shed of the Year is on at eight o'clock if you've nowt else happening.
Just a reminder to the good people of STW. Shed of the Year, the final is on tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
My segment is on tonight so I'll be happily cringeing at myself.
You don't want to watch that Olympics rubbish, shed of the year is where it's at 😉
Let me know what you thought, providing you can be nice... 🙂
Winner! Congrats.... Well deserved.
Yay...!
Superb build.
Edit : You look like you should be driving trains for a living, not making wood things.
I'm in France and missed tonight's episode and the result.
Excellent and well deserved win. Your work is innovative and inspirational.
Woo Hoo well done !
Excellent! Congratulations. I've missed too as I'm away but will definitely watch it when I get home.
Erm
Just to clarify.... Category winner I think....
Yep Category Category Winner and well deserved. Congrats and good luck for next week (though you already know).
Shame you didn't get a bigger rosette!
just watched it on +1. well done mate, inspiring stuff. its a skill i wish i had instead of relying on others.
congrats.
Good lad kayak!
Can't watch out here on the continent, but will do so next month.
Cheers folks. Yes, category winner, but quite a nice surprise that I was seemingly in there up to the wire with the gorgeous and well deserved winner, the West Wing. Blummin amazing build and a great bloke too. Cheers for the support folks.
🙂
Congratulations. I'm looking forward to your next shed. 🙂
Missed this 4 days ago, congrats! Love this kind of thread, really inspiring 🙂
One of my students bought a book in today that they'd bought as a gift for someone.
It's a Mister Men parody a little like those ladybird books of late.
The page on 'Mister DIY' seemed to ring a few bells.
Coincidence? ... 😀
Not sure I'm too into the book title...
🙂
too many fingers to be a true reflection of the shedist 🙂
That is uncanny Kayak - I'd be making enquiries with the author. Are they more likely to be an allotmenteer or a STWer?
Fantastic stuff, wish I'd found this sooner - been building my own caravan on a twin axle chassis for the past few months - I wish I'd seen how you created the curves for the roof earlier - laminated mine and it was a bit of a faff!
It's going to be used for a bit of AirBnB on the farm and some local holidays/festivals with the family. Although I may build a shorter one for the road as it'll be a bit of a handful at over 27' in length and 7'6 wide.
Tried to attach a photo but can't seem to make it work from google photos.

The porch at the back, now with an old church pew and side rails.
It's not too far off completion now, be nice to get it out of the shed and into the daylight this weekend.

Its ok I've report his post, he wont be among us for much longer.
omg - look at your all your workspace and all those tools...
(jaw hanging open)
Building a shed inside a shed! I'm having inception flashbacks.
I'm not sure about talented, more like ambitious! At the early stages I used to stand back, have a brew and think 'what the hell have I taken on here'.
Last year I bought the shell of a shepherd's hut and got it finished off, only ever done a bit of DIY and that always ends up at the more rustic finish, although that has it's own perks as everything tends to look like it's always been there.
This year I thought I'd get a bit creative for the next hut. Design it to suit my needs rather than just produce another shepherd's hut .
If shed fans do fancy a few extra photos I'm sure I can find some.
Get a thread started!
Agreed!

Thought I'd update my build thread.
When I originally built this river shed, I had to be a bit wary of size what with it being on an allotment and so it stayed the size that the original shed that was there and fell down was, all except for a deck I cheekily built.
The deck was uncovered for half it's length and so now the heat has died down from the allotment committee I decided to extend the roof to cover the whole deck, and help slow its decay.
I made another A-frame. The pattern I cut to sit on it was going to just be a temporary thing until I thought of something nicer but you know, I kind of Like it (see what I did there?...)
I had a few days holiday left before going back to the grind but it meant that I had to fit the roof extension all by myself. Pretty gnarly really trying to hold up a massive A-frame up a ladder, on a deck about 8 foot off the ground! 😯
I managed it though by building a central strut which held up the extended ridge beam, which I could then use to sling a strap over and lift, tighten, lift using the strap to take the weight. Then I just had to build supports etc and extend the original roof rails.
For the main supports I went hunting for felled trees down a local lane and found a couple of nice ones which were relatively straight and cut them in to sit under the A-frame. I then triangulated the shit out of it.
It looks mint now it's up and hopefully it'll protect the deck fully and allow beer drinking evenings in all but the worst of weather 😀
Hoisting the A-frame.
