You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Bit of a long shot, but wondering if any Sheffield dwellers have a mag drill I could borrow for a couple of hours? Need to put a couple of 14mm holes in a steel beam which I really don't want to do with a combi drill!
Cheers,
If you don’t get any offers , and you have a decent drill , get your self a HMT holesaw. They work in the same way as an annular cutter and go through steel easily. (My lads use them if they can’t be arsed to drag Maggie out )
Thanks!
Another alternative assuming you can get away with a bigger hole - starrett CSC16 holesaw.
You don’t actually cut much material as the cutter is so thin, but go steady and use plenty of lube.
Those bi metal cutters are for sheet materials . You’ll burn it out on a beam in no time . You need Tungsten Carbide tipped cutters suitable for the thickness of steel you are drilling.
It's upside down cutting 3m up a ladder, so not really going to be able to put much pressure on. Will hang on for a mag drill I think!
Yep, safest way. Hopefully you should find someone up there
go steady and use plenty of lube.
Good advice for many areas of life!
