Hi there,

I am arriving in Budapest this evening and leaving Thursday afternoon. I've heard there are some great ruins bars and some natural baths, which sound good. Does anyone else have any suggestions? I wish to avoid my usual tactic of just wandering around and looking at the nice architecture!

Cheers,

R

this was my thread a year or so ago.

if youre pushed for time my favourites were the ruin bar (szimpla kert?) and the terror museum. didnt much care for the baths, thought they were a bit 'scuzzy'.

Kuplung is a good spot and definitely Szechenyi baths.

Visit the Gellert baths then walk across the bridge and visit the amazing market opposite. That will keep you amused for a good part of one day. The terror museum is excellent too, I've heard.

If you like history and anthropology, I really enjoyed the free walking tour about communism. The tour is free but you are encouraged to tip the tour guide at the end if you want and however much you want. There are tours on different subjects too.

I forwarded this to MrsMC and she's just texted me having just done the communism walk with her daughter. They were delighted (and tipped appropriately) so thanks very much for the lead! I imagine they'll be heading off for ruin bars now.
