You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Got a couple of days booked off at the end of this month and we thought we spend them seeing the sites in London. Would like to stay somewhere with good transport links and not too far from somewhere nice to eat/drink on an evening. Having zero knowledge of London I wouldn't know where to start! Can something like this be had for £120 a night?
Thanks.
Plenty of hotels around the £100 mark, tube links means everything is close - nothing is much more than 30 minutes away.
Go into Leicester Square to buy cheap tickets for same day matinee show performances.
And buy an Oyster card as soon as you get there - bang £20 on it and use that for travelling – saves p*ssing around with Same Day Off Peak Super Saver Family Pack Bonus Discount Zone Two Weekend tickets only to find out the ticket wasn't valid for that particular journey on that particular day at that particular time..
you dont even need to be near a tube, dont overlook the overground and the buses are frequent and run 24hrs, which is a bit of a revelation when coming from the sticks! and oyster card works for all
sign up to london groupon deals if you want some bargains too
Premier Inn is pretty good for a cheap hotel - there's ones in Euston and Old Street (both pretty central) that I know of but there will be plenty others.
You don't need an oyster any more if you have a contactless card, they now do daily capping etc on contactless.
Which side of London are you coming in to? Driving or train?
Finding somewhere nice to eat won't be a problem - budget might be though 😯
If you look at websites like OpenTable or Bookatable you can get deals on meals. We've eaten pleasant meals at places like Benares, Joel Robuchon, Cinnamon Club (too sweet), Nopi etc for not that much more than Pizza Express money.

Will be getting the train into Euston.

This is very true (if you have a Mastercard Debit Card I believe).
And *allegedly* if you have an Oyster Card and a Mastercard Debit, keep them apart when paying otherwise *allegedly* charges can be made against both cards.
Contactless doesn't have to be Mastercard, it's any card with the contactless symbol.
Get the Emirates cable car! You can pay using Oyster/contactless and it's awesome. We went at dusk this last weekend as the nearly-in-laws were visiting and were very pleasantly surprised.

Fair enough, just thought I saw that on a poster when I was down last week.
Watching this with interest, particularly the bit where I see links to lots of sub £100 hotels. I've always struggled to get anywhere that isn't really grotty for less than £120 ish.
Have a look at Tune hotels. Compact, but new, clean and good vfm (£100). Near Kings X, Liverpool St etc.
Mattrgee - happy to suggest some itineraries.

Alone or with mates or missus?
ibis should be dropping their prices to winter rates anytime now. The one next to Euston is good as is the one at Blackfriars (100 yards from Southwark tube). Ibis get cheaper the further out of the city you go. The Whitechapel one is very much cheap and cheerful.
It's London so you're less than 30 minutes from everywhere.
I use universityrooms.com, get access to a kitchen & wifi.
If travelling by train, take a look at the following:
http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/2for1-london
It allows you to get 2 for 1 on a number of big attractions in London (you need a rail ticket though)
premier inn in Victoria is normally around that price, plenty of other hotels nearby. Walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Tate Britain, Westminster Abbey and good transport links elsewhere.
