MrsMC had been clearing her parents house, and come across a stash of unopened bottles of assorted drink. We suspect her dad picked it up on a variety of European trips between 10-30 years ago.

None of it is fancy, but there's a few bottles of decent looking champagne, couple of bottles of port, a few of brandy, vodka, sherry, Southern Comfort, Gran Marnier, and - God help us - Absinthe, amongst others.

I'm assuming it should all still be drinkable? I'm happy to give the stuff we like a go, but there's quite a lot neither of us like and might offer round friends.

Any spirits with a screw cap will be fine, currently through half way through a 1980's bottle of bells (8 year old, so way better quality than the stuff now).

Stuff with a cork might be banjaxed now.

Spirits should be ok, if unopened.
How/where were port & champagne stored as that will definitely affect drinkability.
If vintage port, use a vintage guide for info about longevity; if nv, mix with brandy.
As for champagne, unless properly stored - horizontal, cool stable temp, in dark place, vibration free - will have turned to vinegar; google the labels and vintages if applicable.
Let us know how you get on.

We have 2 blister packs of fruit schnapps miniatures my missus got in Ibiza when they were still using pesatas that we frequently threaten to open. I mean, they can't have gotten any worse can they?

Alcohol is a preservative, the stronger it is the less likely it is to be knackered. 30-year old beer is likely to give you the shits for a fortnight, 30-year old scotch not so much.

Dibs on the absinthe!

Makes the heart grow fonder.
