I'm looking for a base for a stag weekend. Somewhere we can drink some beer, have a fire and a hogroast and make some noise without upsetting any neighbours.
Ideally within walking distance of a pub or town. Something with engines we can race somewhere near.
Ideally in the middle of the country, was thinking somewhere mountain bikers could be happy too, ie Peak, Shropshire, Welsh borders etc...

It's all nice, middle class, middle aged antisocial behaviour so we'll clean up after!

Any links please?

North wales, they have a barbecue hut which is great, you can get a good size group in there and make meat and fire, good size drying room if you take bikes and go carting just up the road.

Not great for a town though, 2 miles from the nearest pub but only 8 from Betws-y-coed if you can taxi it.

The owner Lynda is very helpful.

Stayed at the above bunk house a couple of years ago.
It's just outside Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon. Feels remote as you have to park up and walk half a mile across some fields to reach it! Bit of a trek to the pub..

A mate had his stag do here: http://www.stokesbarn.co.uk/
Didn't do any biking but ticks all the boxes you mention. Great place.

Perth-Y-Pia north of Crickhowell. It's up a steep hill, so the stagger back from the pub in Llanbedr (less than a mile) can be tiring.
It's a great place, with a mountain behind & a view in front.

these guys are great, but are right on the south west tip of wales so may be too far for you. i go there alot in the campervan but recently had a mates stag there - we were running around like nutters all weekend and had nothing but smiles from the owners. there was a hen do there the same weekend which added greatly to the fun 😉

im not sure about motorsports in the area but the owners have a clay pigeon shoot, there is coasteering with 40ft drops within walking distance, and there is some cool powerboat trips around the tidal race at ramsey sound availiable.

Cheers folks, Celtic camping is on the doorstep for me, but not the newcastle residents.

Stokes Barn came up on google, looks good.

We went here for mine, and for a mate's 40th too. About 5 miles south of Buxton.

You can walk to a pub, but it's a couple of miles.
We went go-karting in Buxton on the Staurday afternoon.
Ticked the boxes for us.

I had my stag do at the dales bike centre (Reeth N. Yorkshire). Hired the whole place for two nights, so we didn't disturb anyone else.
Stu was ace! great places to stay, good bacon sarnies, bike hire for those who might not be MTbers. Good pubs close within walking distance, great riding.
We had a big BBQ, loads of beer etc. Kept it tidy!
Would recommend it.

We hired an 8 person cabin at Trawsfynydd holiday village in the summer.
Walking distance to a friendly country pub and a short ride to Coed y Brenin.
Only one pub in the area, but I'd imagine they'd welcome the stag do. All the staff were great and the landlord very kindly gave us a box of beers because he had to close early on our last night.

How many of you are there?

If you fancy that Scotland (specifically Glentress and Innerleithen) then this place is a good bet. It's close to Peebles but perhaps a bit of a trek from the pub (taxis know where it is though).

I can recommend it highly!

Kailzie is pretty good. location for Glentress is spot on, bike lock up is great BUT the beds were really uncomfortable (unless they've got new mattresses since I was there last summer).

I didn't notice the uncomfortable beds but then again rather a lot of ale was consumed whenever not on the bike or driving. I think I went in 2012 last..

Just a little bump.
Looking Shropshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire area.
Self catering, potential for a fire outside, no neighbours. Pub within walking distance would be good. Up to 30 people.

Cheers

30 people!! That's a challenge. Might you be better camping, 2 or 3 marquees perhaps. You could just pay a farmer to pitch up in his field.

For those kind of numbers, worth looking at the close-season yha places at http://www.escape-to.co.uk/ - we've stayed in some spectacular places in the lakes where it has worked out at less than £25/head for the whole 3 night weekend. Some available in the summer I think but I suspect not so bargainous.
