Oh, and the picture must come from your own collection and not be lifted off the internet. Let the arguments begin …

Layer Cake?
Yep
Ah bollocks to it. Pic posting doesn't seem any better than it used to be
Was it Lairig Ghru - Lurchers Leap?
BWD - is that above Padiham?
Is the Local Hero phonebox in Arisaig?
No idea what film that’s from Rusty.
Welshfarmer your original pic of Vermork is back to front!
TomB - there's still one other you could have, a recent remake
@Vader lol, may well be as it is a scanned slide (so very easy to put in upside down) and my memory aint what it used to be. If so then very well spotted.
BadlyWiredDog that’s the shop from the League of Gentlemen.
Obviously, bonus point for where it actually is - clue: not Hadfield / Royston Vasey 🙂
@ElShalimo - Lurchers indeed. I'm lucky enough to see it from my window.
The phone box is actually in Pennan - on the Moray Coast and nowhere near the beach. I've been planning a ride from one to t'other, it's 315km.
@oap - Rob Roy?
@oldagepredator - Star Wars (last but one)
@mrb123 - Highlander? - I'm sure Sycamore Gap from pic 2 was in that too.
@oap – Rob Roy?
Too far back but definitely a location with history
@oldagepredator – Star Wars (last but one)
One before that.
@scotroutes - didn't they film some beach scenes near Morar, near Arisaig?
Did anyone actually say Stoke Park (Layer Cake and Goldfinger)
@ElShalimo - yep. The beach in my photo is "Bens Beach" at Camusdarach, by Morar. The "village" shots were all filmed at Pennan and the village hall (the dance scenes) at Onich and the misty loch early on was Loch Tarff above Fort Augustus. I've photos of that last one but I reckoned that was too obscure.
That sounds like a great ride between the two locations
Something to look forward to once some normality returns!
I live about half way. I wouldn't even need my bivvy gear 🙂
@ebygomm, is that the swimming scene in Croc Dundee (was it 2)
Obviously, bonus point for where it actually is – clue: not Hadfield / Royston Vasey
Marsden Moor - Regular way point on my bike routes.
I used to know where that LoG shop was, I found it on a bike ride once.
Technically this isn't from the actual film but it's pretty closely related so I reckon it'll get guessed easily.
Took this last year but rode past it on my ride earlier which made me think of it.
Klunk is yours the Thomas crown affair?
I'll be riding past this one later

An easy one.
@RoterStern. That is "The Beach" in Thailand. You would be lucky to get that close to it these days I reckon
TiRed, French Lieutenant’s Woman?
Edit: mikkel, Duxford, Battle of Britain?
Obviously, bonus point for where it actually is – clue: not Hadfield / Royston Vasey 🙂
Meltham Rd.
Edit - Seem I can't post images from Google images. I give up.

Bonus: can you name *all* the film's or series filmed here.

Looks a bit like the castle in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. And is the one before it from the same film?
Doune Castle - as above with Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Outlander more recently.
Be careful of the best that lives in those rocks.
Correct

What else has been filmed at Frenchy castle?
Doune Castle – as above with Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Outlander more recently.
And more...
I'd be cheating if I listed the rest as I'd have to have googled them.
😜
Watty. Yes Duxford
@thepurist that'll be the ok LD Canadian military church in brookwood. Or, the deep south redneck church in Kingsman, among other things.
Oooo, I know the castle and have driven past it and seen it in films. Now what is it called without Googling. God I can't get my head around Gaelic. On the road below Kintail IIRC. Eilien Doone or something like that.
Film? Got it in my head but can't quite get it
You're on the right track Welsh Farmer.
The castle in question was used in Highlander (as was my earlier location of the Cioch, Skye) but the film I'm thinking of here was more recent and suggested the castle was the Scottish HQ of MI6...
Eilean Donan.
I'd have gone for Highlander too!
Did it feature in Skyfall? Surprised no-one has posted up a pic of Glen Etive yet 🙂
Did it feature in Skyfall? Surprised no-one has posted up a pic of Glen Etive yet
Take the A9 C as then we'll be able to track them on the traffic cameras.....
To Glen Coe..... Wtf
Did it feature in Skyfall? Surprised no-one has posted up a pic of Glen Etive yet
Or have they
Oldagepredator - one of the recent Star Wares films? cant remember which one....but I know they used Derwent Water as a battle scene
one of the recent Star Wares films? cant remember which one….but I know they used Derwent Water as a battle scene
It was, answer a few pages back. You could also have had Swallows and Amazons (remake).
Did it feature in Skyfall?
Right spy, wrong film...
Kingsman?
Yep Harry, and I didn't even realise until I saw it (again) in the sequel
Eilean Donan was in "The World is not Enough" as well wasn't it?
Right spy, wrong film indeed!
.. and Entrapment. mmm, CZ-J. anyway 🙂
Eilean Donan was in “The World is not Enough” as well wasn’t it?
Correct!
I was out for a morning run and found this place by accident. It's a famous for video with 2.7billion views on YouTube...
Mine

Video

hm, @scotroutes, route between locations sounds a great plan. Reckon no.1 film - if measured by how often can watch it.
Didn't know about Loch Tarff. Always assumed was one of the wee lochs along the Glenfinnan road.
Didn’t know about Loch Tarff. Always assumed was one of the wee lochs along the Glenfinnan road.
Yeah, so did I.
So a route should really take in Loch Tarff as well. Excellent.
That's an option, though it's not the most direct and it means doing that bloody hill. I did think about including Ferness too but that not only adds a few miles, it also takes me away from a home mid-way stop. If I decide to do it over 3 days, it might be back in.
I think Ferness is mandatory. Including the crossroads of "use the Force, Luke"..
MBR123, this video clip?
@kcal - going via Loch Tarff and Ferness is actually the same distance (312km). That's assuming liberal use of NCN78 and NCN1 and avoiding the major roads. Over 3 days, that would split evenly around Fort Augustus and Forres.
"use the force Luke??"
Back road to/from Elgin/Forres crosses the A940 at Ferness. A940 has almost zero traffic on it, especially late / early. It ought to be possible to just approach the crossroads and cross without slowing. Never been brave/foolish enough though.
Another, from the front of my old house.

Falls of Dochart - 39 Steps?
fkvO62
Not only have a number of quite well-known films been shot here, but a number of tv programmes as well.

@matt_outandabout I was so intrigued by your picture above I felt the need to Google research it and came up with the Alan Walker video Faded as the one you must be referring too. The place in your picture appears twice, each time from a different angle. Your view last about half a second, blink and you miss it! Wiki would suggest the video was filmed in Estonia. You did well to recognize the place from the very brief exposure it gets on that youtube video.
