I have a couple of blue 907 butane gas bottles that I have for emergency cooking if needed in the the event of a power cut, had them for years. Is it still possible to get these refilled or exchanged for full ones? TIA

I swap my empty for a full one here.  I think it was about £45 the last time, quite a price hike from before covid.

If its for emergency home use just get a calor gas bottle and appropriate regulator, much cheaper.  I'd go for propane- its what people that rely on it  year round use.

@toomba - I'd sell them to someone who goes camping - they have gone up a lot in price!!

Then get a small propane bottle to replace them - propane burns better at lower temps and is much cheaper to refill in the future

I just filled up my 907 for £50. Eesh.

I nearly converted to Calor, but as it’s only for camping I didn’t bother - the 907 is a nice portable size, and the conversion would’ve ended up much the same once I’d added the new canister + refill + new regulator.

But you’d end up with much more gas for the same price, so for you it would be worth converting. Especially with two canisters to sell to campers.

Calor have continued some of their small cylinders since the beginning of last year:

Cube, 3.9kg Propane, 4.5kg Butane, 6 Litre Propane and 12kg Butane cylinders.

Camping Gaz 907 is becoming increasingly popular for campers and boats - I certainly wouldn't be ditching it for an obsolete Calor gas one.

@dovebiker - do you mean Calors decision to stop selling some sizes, not least 4.5kg?

If so, they reversed that decision this year and you can get them easily.

I've both -
- Campingaz 907 - £45 to refill/exchange
- Calor 4.5kg - £35 to refill/exchange and twice the gas...

@kormoran - they had loads in and said supply was getting better every month. Apparently Calor had not worked out that so many people would swap away from calor if they got rid of the most popular size of bottle, around which most caravans, campers and boats were designed...so they reversed the decision.

Top tip

We used to exchange our 907 cylinder on holiday in France in a large supermarket. Much cheaper than here and you get a brand new cylinder not a rusty old grotty one. We had 2 cylinders so had the luxury of being able to do this and we go abroad every year

I've got a blue Calor 4.5kg in the garage that is full of gas.

My Dad gave it to me years ago.

If anyone is in West Yorkshire they can have it if they donate £10 to Macmillan.
