Are you going all round the country or focussing on a particular province?

Sheen Falls Hotel in Kenmare is nice and a good base for Kerry which is the best county in Ireland by far. if you prefer more homely Blackstones B&B in Glencar handy for Kerry’s  Iveragh peninsula.

Ring of Kerry go clockwise as the coaches all have to go anti clockwise. Ballinaskelligs Loop is smaller but great coastal views and far fewer tourists as coaches are banned. , Caherdaniel and Derrynane House, Black valley and gap of Dunloe for scenery. O’Neils at Renard point for seafood. Kenmare or Dingle for tourist tat. Try and see a beach horse racing meet as well, such as glenbeigh races

Can recommend Kilmahon House as a posh B&B in Shanagarry, East Cork. Excellent welcome, afternoon tea, breakfast is class.

You can stay in the light house at Loop Head, County Clare.

Parknasilla Hotel in Sneem, County Kerry is pretty good too.

Derrynane Beach in south Kerry is magic apparently.

Dingle is cool but will be heaving with tourists and is pretty €€€.  Nice pubs though and generally good music.

If if you want to stay away from touristy places then stay away from Killarney town but the national park around it is pretty damn nice

What kind of stuff are you guys into?

Off the ferry then to redcross to the brewery and best pub in Ireland, spend the night. Then up to glendalough and the Wicklow gap, then over to the west.

Wild Atlantic way is an advertising strap line but does include loads of things to see and do.

Another option is Wexford town, our lady's isle, hook lighthouse, the salties, Waterford and then over to the west. Much more rolling countryside and less touristy.

Try to avoid the middle 😉

Beara Peninsula.

Avoid anything touristy. Throw away the guidebook and follow your nose. Stop in a random village and see what's going on. You'll have a blast 🙂

With the exception of Dublin/Wicklow I would say the west coast is best, but there are little gems all over, you wont go far wrong. I now live in cork but as i live here I never use hotels so can't recommend too many but if there is any info I can offer just ask.,

Ps. There is no Southern Ireland.. .it's the Republic of Ireland.
