Just choosing PE seats for next years Hols with Virgin. I'd quite like treat the kids to upstairs in the Bubble - any reason not to?
Kids upstairs. You downstairs. Everyone's happy.
Nope, its ace, feels like you are in a tiny plane (not done virgin, but BA club world)
Whichever seats are cheapest. It’s a bus with wings
All the seats arrive at the same time.
If cost is an issue then upstairs in a 747 is an affordable alternative over a G650, although there is no denying the Gulfstream is a lovely aeroplane.
Upstairs, it's higher up so you get a better view 🙂

Except Kirstie Allsop. Upstairs FTW, even in cattle it's a win.
I can't believe that 747s are still in service
But if upstairs is business class ... and not with KLM , it is great. Huge amount of room, exclusive service. But the smallest toilet in the world.
Virgin plane ... or code share?

Same time but in a different condition.
Downstairs. All he rough kids go upstairs, and it can get a bit rowdy.

Ideally, yes, but...

upstairs is nice in BA's business, as it only houses ~20 seats, so its nice and quiet. I would go with whichever is a smaller section, but can't think of any reason 'not' to pick upstairs. If you have a crash you'll last slightly longer as the people on the bottom get squished first
At the front you are closer to the crash than everyone else so you need to get seats right at the back as they hardly ever reverse into hills. Also find out which seat the black box is under because if thats the only bit they expect to get back then you want to be strapped to it.
Seriously though I've flown on many types and unless you are a spotter then they are all much of a muchness inside (in cattle class anyhow). Seat guru is good though for checking out legroom etc,

This, but also check on the seat plan for where the bassinets are, you might not want to be to close. Seat Guru website is worth a look.
Actually Kryton given your posting history I suspect your family will all end up just sat on the stairs, neither up nor down 🙂
We upgraded to upstairs on a return flight. There was a lot more room - but maybe that was just the location of the seats.
Outbound was very cramped on the 747 with virgin iirc.
62A westbound and 62A eastbound of course.
Unless you're slumming it on Virgin. 😃
However... Upstairs. Always.
Two main reasons
1 - It's UPSTAIRS. On a PLANE! If you're a kid, that's awesome.
2 - Side bins. Assuming Virgin have them, the side lockers at upstairs window seats are super convenient.
We flew with Virgin to San Francisco and sat up in the bubble . It was classed as economy.
Main advantage was the room down the side of the seat between it and the window so you could store all your crap down there.

This. And Virgin did have them on upstairs PE last time I tried it. I've found it's generally nice and quiet up there.
62K westbound. Obviously!
Oops.
Upstairs is (marginally) quieter engine noise wise.
Everybody who choose their seats on that basis will be super happy to see loads of kids up there 😛
My kids are very well behaved and love flying, yet more so the 8hrs of TV they are allowed for the occasion.
Job done, seats booked thanks.
