70's tastic.
My folks were hippies back then, many an evening was spent behind a beaded curtain in a sweet smokey room wondering what the hell was going on with this on in the background.

Great program. BBC4 is magic on a Friday night. A bit before my time. Did not know a huge amount about Mike Oldfield or Tubular Bells other than the Exorcist. Have just downloaded the album though.
Watching a programme about synth music. Just really discovering how far out synth sounds must have been in the 70's
try Hergest Ridge (*man), painted my 1st flat to that
I didn't see it but have the album and obviously a classic. Dunno whether I should keep looking back to the 70's, it was a brilliant time to be a teenager and often wish I could be sent back. 🙂
Missed the program but still have the original vinyl 🙂
I last played it in the Mothership on a winter moonlit drive across Rannoch Moor and into Glencoe. If only every trip was that good....man
Whenever I have driven across Rannoch Moor at night I have hardly listened to the music due to deer watch!
I finished school and started work in 1973 (just had my 40 year long service award) 😳
My parents also hippies(still). A early childhood on the welsh coast with the strangest band of drop outs, but all good earthy crafts type people. I think incredible string band and pink Floyd dominate my formative years listening. I have some amazing pics from those days.
I went out with mike oldfields niece for a few years, met him on numerous occasions. I regrettably turned down a Christmas at his place in Gustaad.
Tang, the Incredible String Band used to pop in to my folks shop. There is even a lyric which mentions them somewhere.

'Mrs Thompson gave me a bear, Brigitte and some people lived upstairs.
Fantastic! I still listen to Robin Willamson, I especially love his story telling. I think he still buys my dad's pots from time to time.
Now that's my sort of shop.
