Phones due an upgrade and have only ever had Android phones but given I have an iPad also contemplating moving over to the dark side for my phone as well.

Appreciate on a pure £/GB basis the 256 is better value but £150 is £150. I'm not a big downloader, I don't use my phone for music too much etc so wondering whether I need the 256gb or whether the 64gb will suffice.

Been happy enough with 32gb android phones, good cloud discipline and good 4g. Very little need for big storage these days if your well connected

Consider the 2nd hand value of the larger memory too, although this doesn’t alter the initial £150 issue of course.

Video is the biggest storage hog. How many videos are you likely to take and are you likely to keep any other video (movies, iPlayer etc) on it for long periods?

For reference I have a 64GB iPhone SE.

I'm currently using 33.4GB, broken down as follows:

13.82GB Photos & Video (1767 images, 224 videos)

6.75 GB "System"

~14GB Apps and App Data (with 151 Application installed)

0 Music (generally just use Spotify etc)

I could automatically offload the Photos and the least used Apps to the iCloud.
But that would mean paying for iCloud storage as you only get 5GB free.

I'm nearly two years into owning a 64gb. I'm no where near filling it and i take a LOT of pics though very little music.

Easy enough with Google photos to back up most images and remove local copies from the device should storage ever be a problem.

When I used to have loads of music on my phone 64gb wasn't enough. Now i stream it all, I can't even get close to filling 64gb. I've got 46gb free on my 64gb iPX.....

I can't see any compelling reason to get the bigger one here.  The 256GB would be a better choice if you're someone who wanted their entire iTunes library with them at all times.

(Android user so take my advice with a pinch of salt.)

How much of that are you actually using at the moment?

I’ve got a 256GB one but only use 35GB currently and that’s with a load of itunes downloaded.

not many other stuff filling the memory tbh and have no video footage atm neither.

it really is sn insane amount of memory but again video would use up a load too.

I would be more than content with a 64GB iphone SE as considering selling my iphone 7 256GB in jet black for a smaller iphone handset with smaller memory and to free up a tad little bit of cash.

the iphone 7 is a great bit of kit especially cause it has stereo speakers #finallyapplelistened

My 6S is a 64gb, had it about 4 years, still got 25gb free (had to look it up).

120 apps apparently.

Dont store much music on it as still have iPod Classic(s).

I’d go for the same capacity again I reckon

I seem to have only used 17.5GB of my 128GB iPhone 7.

I use Apple Music so only have around 100 tracks on my phone actually downloaded at any time.

I quite often get through my 16GB data allowance despite having fibre WiFi at Home and at the office. Guess I stream everything these days.

I have the 256 version, with 63.88gb used.

But I regularly spend time where there is no signal at all, so it’s worth it for me to have all my music on the phone for example.

The X is an awesome device.

128Gb iP6+, three years old, I let photos upload to iCloud, but I refuse to use streaming, far too many occasions when I might want to play music and there’s sod-all phone coverage, let alone data! There are huge areas of the south-West of England where I can’t make a bloody phone call. At the moment I’ve got roughly eighteen gig free. I’ve got a bunch of navigation apps which use a fair amount of space, because the maps are on the phone; Navmii, Here, CoPilot, ViewRanger, UKMapping, and a shitload of ebooks, but music takes up most space. Given the money, I’d have a 256Gb phone, and I’d have roughly 180-200Gb of my music library with me all the time. I’ve spent nearly fifty years building up a music library, I’m not going flog it all of and rent my music, there’s stuff I’ve got that I’m pretty certain is not, and probably never will be in any streaming library, plus I’m adding new stuff all the time.
