Imagine Deadpool meets Fast&Furious with a bit of The Losers. And a sprinkling of Polar. I’m currently think it’s awesome but I will watch again to be sure.
Don’t worry about the trailer showing you all the good bits, there are so many Similiar moments they could have used.
Best thing for me was Mélanie Laurent who I’ve not seen since “Now You See Me”.

Huh, I remember watching the trailer and thinking, 'that looks like generic crap with a good dose of stupidity thrown in.'

I liked the first Fast and the Furious movie and Tokyo Drift but thought all the rest were utter garbage. Too much crap CGI and attempt at story rather than just picking an off the shelf plot and relying on the soundtrack and visuals.

Maybe I should give this a go. I do like Ryan Reynolds

I watched it yesterday as I was off work, and yes it is just that! Some of the free running bits made my palms go a bit sweaty, some funny lines and lots of action that whips away at a good rate of knots. I imagine middle daughter will be watching at some point and I think I will happily sit through it again.

Looks good this (in a Micheal Bay fodder kinda way), I do like a big daft action film! Though someone needs a slap for Painting a Guilia that colour

I thought Polar was shit.

6 Underground, I never really got over the massive continuity errors in the first car chase where the lorry goes down the side of the green Alfa, scratches the **** out of it and wipes out the driver side wing mirror (in glorious Michael Bay slo-mo).

Next shot - one immaculate green Alfa complete with both wing mirrors sliding through the streets of Florence.

Watched it this aft- meh. Very Michael Bay and it felt like I was watching the same 45min episode of a box set over and over again.

Completely agree with others who’ve spotted the magically healing Alfa in the first scene. Worse than the Porsche in Commando!

Clearly trying to set itself up for a load of sequels.

On a different note I watched the 2017 Jumanji last night and really enjoyed it. Never bothered as I assumed it be awful but thought it worked well, cringeworthy ending notwithstanding.

Well, seeing as you can't cross something as great as Deadpool, with utter crap like Fast & Furious or Polar, I'll presume this is down the moronic end of the scale and avoid.

Very Michael Bay. Overly choreographed / stylised action sequences and not much story.
Still, i could watch Mélanie Laurent read War and Peace all evening so silver cloud and all that.

Clearly trying to set itself up for a load of sequels.

Someone has seen the Fast & Furious franchise and gone "ooh, we'll have some of that!"

Basically tell the same story in 7 different ways and hope each one makes a profit at the box office. Wonder how many Netflix have signed up for in advance...

Harmless enough mindless action fodder though. The usual endless stream of generic bad guy henchmen to be dispatched in gory ways, a selection of cars to write off in neatly choreographed stunts...

I noticed the magical healing Alfa. Also the driver wearing a hat and then not wearing hat in the same car chase.

Take your brain out film. Worth a watch.

I like a Ryan Reynolds one liner as much as the next man, but this film is shite.

If I didn’t already know it was a Michael Bay film, I would know from the first upskirt shot, let alone the slow mo violence and casual killing of bystanders.

So far it's just a never ending stream of shite patter and shooting supposed baddies that we know heehaw about.

Overly stylised pish is my verdict.

Off it goes. Boring.

It was alright, bit of fun, few one liners that made us giggle, some gory shots that make you wince a bit... basically a serious of action sequences connected by a weak plot with a randomly jumping timeline. Can always play spot-the-product-placement too (can't say i recall seeing a product placement message at start of a Netflix prog before)

It was all a bit glossy mag advert shots but as an occasion advertising guy I did respect the work they put into it. Anyways, has anyone heard about these Chopard watches?

On the plus side I can’t imagine anyone walking away from that with their uppermost thought being “Teal and orange again?”

Really like Deadpool but waiting for this to improve past overlong glossy car chases, unfettered human carnage and a product placement-fest got to ‘I’ve already invested an hour of my life in this pants so I may as well finish it’ but now wish I hadn’t bothered lol

took my brain out and watched it last night - still terrible. Pretty sure whoever edited it had ADHD, or expected everyone to be watching to have ADHD.

The product placement was laughable too.

Pretty sure the entire film was paid in adverts

I lowered my expectations accordingly and it was still garbage. Agree about the hyperactive editing. Don't watch it if you've got epilepsy.

Ryan Reynolds plays himself as always. I predict in about 10 years he'll do a Matthew McConaughey. Hide his pretty face, get a beer belly and start 'acting'.

My son was round, he put it on, we watched. He went home after about 40 mins, so if he got bored...
Did enjoy the CGI bodies flying about in bits, but that was about it. Better than Polar cos it actually had a script (of sorts).

I thought I'd try it, based on some of the recommendations here.

So anyway, I plugged my joypad in, waited for that big cut-scene to finish but 128 minutes later it just ended. No character selection or anything.

Is there some DLC I'm missing?

I quite enjoyed that.

Although there does feel like there's something missing from netflix and Amazon films, like they had the budget for big names and special effects, but there wasn't the oversight from the backers or executive producers. So you end up with shots that perhapse would have been done differently if it wasnt just Michael Bay in charge with no one critiquing it (that was the most orange/teal film ive ever seen), and there were bits that didnt work so well but you kinda thought they might have re shot and gone over budget normally but perhapse had to edit arround them.

E.g. the barmaid, id have to go back and re watch it if i could be bothered to figure out if thats her, his wife or 5 in the next scene. And what was the point of her character. Its like they've cut a scene that explains whats happened, does he get beaten up, does she save him? Does she just remind him of his wife (its a flashback, is he not still married?). Feels like they made the film, then no one watched the final edit with fresh eyes to check it made sense.

I watched half on saturday, the rest last night..

Was 'kinda' enjoyable, but I won't watch it again.
It felt like there was loads cut out, and it didn't quite make sense...
like 7 LITERALLY just joins the gang, then is mister "ooh, listen to me" and everyone does.

Was a bit disjointed, but meh...was a bit of fun i guess!

Watched it last night on the basis of this thread. Its ok, some of the action is good, I especially liked the steel girders falling from the top of the high rise. I was ducking on the couch.

I don't think any of the characters are interesting enough for it last into a sequel, let alone 10 (did you see how many bad guys were on the hit list?)

Also feels like theres a missing act that explains how the billionaire philanthropist gets quite so good with a gun (and just got replaced with a line from 7 asking the question, which actually just draws attention to the fact).

And did I blink and miss the link between the submarines and the magnets? I presume thats what they were but must have missed a very quick explanation of the fact, likewise I assume there was more explanation of the magnets involved in the dining table?

There was an explanation that he had trained with special forces previously, and a clip of him jumping out of a military plane in uniform.

The voice over to that was that he had sold some tech to the CIA and got to do some cool stuff, did it really imply he'd joined the SEAL's?

I dunno, the whole film (and a few other Amazon/Netflix films I've watched) have all felt like they were rushed through preproduction. The plot premise was good, the action was good. It was mostly well shot. But it just felt like the screenplay/script and edit needed a bit more work.

That’s the best explanation you are getting 👍
So many things that weren’t explained fully (or at all) but none really matter in the slightest once you factor in the type of film it is.

I've not watched it yet, but I do like a thread where people try and stitch together the Plot/continuity holes in a Michael Bay film...

My first thought on seeing the Trailer was "Ball Fondlers" if that's the level it's pitched at I'll find a spare evening, unplug my brain and chuck it on no doubt...

The most Michael Bay film ever, OTT violence, pointless slow motion shots of escapes and people being killed, finding random ways for bad guys to die, plot holes, poor continuity, silly pan shots with the sun in the background, slow walking toward the camera, predictable plot twists, lots of ladies in bikinis and skimpy underwear, loud cars and poor plot. To sum up it was ace.

Yes. To be honest I think because he likes the sound. When they were filing the last Transformers here at the end of each day Michael and the crew let people sit in the cars and rev them. One, I think the Lamborghini, has a key remote that revved the car, he loved letting young kids think it was was autbot control.

Well I thought this would be a good film:

Ryan Reynolds - Check
Action - Check
Car Chases - Check

I am quite surprised that I thought this was a complete pile of shit. I don't know how long it was, but it was too long, liked the Storyline, but now I know I don't like Michael Bay as a director. As for the soundtrack, that was well off too.

Because it also had Matt Lucas in it. When he was on screen it felt like a crap sketch from Little Britian (and they were all pretty crap). Just ruined it for me.

Watched 6 Underground the other night as I like RR and the trailer looked shiny and interesting. It was ok but essentially plot free. If i watch it again sometime will it make sense?

After the somewhat mixed associated reviews I've just watched the trailer for Polar - it looks great in a dark & stylized kind of way. I'm guessing it's all in the trailer then?

She appears a the start and in a few photos, then at the end with the kid. Pretty sure barmaid/wife aren't the same character? Unless his night with the barmaid results in the kid and I'm imagining the opening bit.

There wasn't really much in the way of character development was there?!
Also, the girl who's bleeding out in the Alfa in the opening sequences (although still seems able to jump out, smoke a few bad guys, then jump back in while suffering a fairly major bullet wound). She was almost incidental to the entire film. Token fit bird in the background. that was it.

Yeah, more character development needed...

I watched it, thought it was really good for an action movie. Basically just a lot of set pieces stitched together. It won't win any awards for editing though and the ending overdosed on the cheese. Also a bit too Transformers in parts, I guess that's the Michael Bay effect.
What I liked was the Deadpool approach with similar humour and gore.

Utter utter utter utter.... utter.... crap.

I think Michael Bay is taking the piss now.

Critics and anyone over the age of 12
"Michael Bay films are just (admittedly beautifully shot) Action twaddle, where anything that isnt a product placement seems to be made of explodium. Constant stream of low slung under bum shots for the girls, terrible continuity and the bare minimum of a story required to count as a script."

Michael Bay:
Hold my Beer, watch this

someone said that Transformers was sponsored by the US army?
The product placement went too far, even by MB standards. Alfa, fine. Watches and shoes, whatever.
but Ronin Masks? MB doesnt give a Toss. Hes making money selling rubbish to teenagers.
