1st order of business!

HAVE YOU VOTED YET!

Go do that then come back and read on.

We are on the new server.

There are problems with images in story and rather than delay the launch until we have fixed them all we have decided to go live and fix - so forgive the broken images you will find in stories.

There will be other bugs and we are working on those.

There may be some instances where we take the site down again to fix something over the next few days so bear with us on that.

The performance as it is now is not as it will be. As I said in the last update we have to start indexing the site now it is live in order to exploit the performance upgrades on the server. That indexing will likely take place over the weekend. So if the site feels a bit sluggish at times, again, bear with us.

Andy has been up since the small hours of the morning. He's going to have a rest for a bit. Anthony and I will continue working on what we can.

Cheers

Mark

Excellent. I'm traumatised as I've had nothing to distract me from work today, now off to the election thread to see what's been happening.

Is there somewhere to report bugs as we find them.

On my Mac running safari, the login page is just all grey. Auto fill can still complete my name and password and if I click the correct area I can log in, so it's just the username and password boxes not displaying correctly

Dunno if it's been flagged but login screen is just black on Brave Mobile and Firefox Mobile, you need to stab about to find a box to auto fill.

Both on Android

Edit: ha, too slow

Top of the Chat forum. STW - any issues is a sticky for reporting problems.

Log in via random clicking on a blank page.  I can't log in via smart phone - android, same issue can't see the dialogue boxes, compounded by a screen protector that refuses to register my fingerprint (not an STW problem that one 🙂 )

The login issue we are aware of and it's on the priority list.

Andy and Anthony are just ensuring the subscription system is fully operational and everyone's details have made it over and are secure and working.

Login worked fine for me!

I particularly liked your custom 4th July out of service page reminding us all to vote!

In addition to the missing/hidden login fields, I've noticed I'm missing the text formatting options

(Brave browser, dark mode, Android 14, Google Pixel 6a, FWIW)

Oooh, I might have spotted something no-one else has! When I like a post it used to change the icon? to green. Now it goes to a urine yellow colour which it stays at even if I unlike it.

Also, my membership icon colour has gone.

Congratulations on the update (and the election) from mainland Europe.

Just a heads up - Digital subscriber here, yet I am displayed as a free member and get a ton of ads displayed in the forum.

@Mark, you've issued Andy with a large amount of beer for the weekend after this?

We are aware that some full members accounts aren’t showing up properly and that’s why you are seeing ads. The big register of members is updating slower than we’d like so this will be our priority job in the morning. We will get you sorted asap. Sorry for the ads

"Text formatting tools appear if you choose ‘fancy editor’ in your account preferences."

My dream job title. But joking aside, I'm sure you're working on a better UI solution for that already.

"Site seems snappier to me (improved page response time) ?."

Much slower here.

Thanks for the reports. We have a lot to do today and your reports have helped us prioritise the list.

Site speed- Yes, some of you will find it snappy and others a bit slow. This mysterious index I've mentioned will be the fix for that. Today we will be squashing bugs and generally getting everything configured as it used to be. Then we will start the job of creating the mysterious index over the weekend.

page loading also seems a bit quicker here - and doesn't stop, say, the TdF streaming on opening a new page (as it used to)

Laptop still wants to take off within 5-10 seconds of entering the site, and phone heats up to the same temperature as it does when wireless charging, while using googlemaps, and bluetoothing audio while sat in the car's winscreen on a sunny day.

no other site has this effect on any of my computing devices, not even MS Teams.

Just noticed there’s only the first page of Chat showing, nothing else is available. That’s on both Safari and DuckDuckGo, with DuckDuckGo as chosen search.

Actually seems to be the same for all forums, no paging buttons.  Same in Edge and Arc.  I'm logged in in both cases

It's worth saying that so far the migration has been relatively painless (from a user point of view of course 🙂 ).  No major hiccups and everything running very smoothly.  Nice work

We have two threads where people are reporting issues, which is a bit of a mess for us. So, if you are reporting issues let's use the other sticky post from this point on.

UPDATE Saturday morning:

The site is currently being indexed by Anthony. That means we can't push any updates or bug fixes until it's done. That will hopefully be done by Monday morning. Once we have done that and activated the system that uses it, we should see a performance improvement in the site. By performance I am referring to speed of access to pages and not bug fixes.

However, one really nagging problem is that some full members accounts are not set to their correct access level and so these members will be hitting the paywall and probably seeing the dreaded ads. I'm here for you. While we can't push the ultimate fix for this until after the indexing has finished I can fix your accounts manually - but I need you to contact me directly. Please don't do that on the forum. Please email me directly over the weekend on mark@singletrackworld.com. If you can start your email title with 'Member login' I'll create a filter to collect them all in my inbox so I can deal with them. Managing expectations - it's the weekend so my response time will be measured in hours, but I'll do my best.

Thanks for bearing with us and we all appreciate your patience while we do this.

Mark
