I'm tempted by the LG from JL because of the extra 2 years warranty and the freesat tuner.
Any opinions?

that & the fact that it won't be dog shit 😂
I'd go with the LG as the panel quality should be better than the Medion, as will the interface.
LG, from JL

+1 for the LG, the Medion is probably fine, but smart TVs need software updates to keep them useful - I have a three year old Samsung that cant be upgraded to get Disney plus.
How long/often will the Medion updates go on for?
webOS is pretty pimp for a smart TV OS. Definitely the LG.
No comparison LG every time
John Lewis replaced a TV that developed a fault right at the end of its warranty with no drama.
When I had a fault with a brand new speaker from Aldi, they basically told me FRO. I had to threaten to get the credit card company involved to get a replacement.
For that alone I would buy from JL.

It would only show current affairs and light entertainment?
No experience of those 2 TVs but another positive JL warranty experience. Samsung monitor at tail end of warranty. JL sent to Samsung who said not a warranty claim but JL made good with an equivalent up to date model.
No comparison LG
LG is a TV leader.. medion.. not even in the list

Damn that's got me looking at TVs now.
We had to urgently buy a TV last April when out in Spain on a biking holiday (note to self, never take a TV outside). Although it wasn't 4k it was indeed LG and with the same SMART platform - took two attempts to setup on their cable over there but picture, sound and operations were spot on.
What everyone else said. For the price difference it's a no-brainer.

And many are shite when they're new. Simple enough fix with a set-top box of some form, the Firestick is £25 currently (which probably should be a PSA in itself).

I wish my experience with John Lewis and their warranty was so positive (on a TV too). They were horseshit with me and it took two attempts (each time being left with a crappy little replacement for 7+ days) to get the very common fault for that particular panel fixed (no replacement TV for me, despite the set only being 18 months old).
Saying that, I would still choose the LG every single time.
I do like Aldi stuff; I recently bought their Ferrox Petrol Lawn mower and it's been great.
BUT I have ordered the LG from JL. Just need a 4k Firestick now.
Thanks all.
Definitely LG over Aldi. Just to throw another option into the mix: I bought one of these from Costco last week for £306.
I can't vouch for how it compares to the JL option, but it is higher in the model range and still sold at a higher price, so should be better. And Costco do the same 5 year warranty as John Lewis (and are reputedly great for returns, but I've never had to try). You could buy a years membership and one of these for less than the JL option. Only risk, is if you buy a membership and then discover it's out of stock, but you could probably phone to confirm in advance.
