I would like a comfy sleeping mat for sleeping in van / tent on my own but no need for it to be light, 5cm seems to be a good compromise of comfort vs packed size as have a double 7.5 cm and its huge! Had bad experience with alpkit in the past and delaminating on one and leak on another after only about 20 nights. over 18 months, (3/4 length). Prefer < £40.

We've had a couple of these for a couple of years, not very self inflating, but we bought for the same reason as you. No where near as good as our 10cm mattresses, but a lot better than our 3cm therma rests.

Daft question....but when your sleeping space is large enough for a larger mattress do you not slip of it?
I have a single mattress for my van and end up half on / half off and sleeping like a starfish.

of course decathlon. Will pop alone when open again.

@w00ster not me personally but I am a light sleeper and adjust myself as needed. P.S. I don't want to hear about your starfish.

How do you starfish in a sleeping bag? Does it fit like a glove?

For a tenner more (whilst they're in the sale) you could nab an Alpkit Dozer

https://alpkit.com/products/dozer

Not light, and I certainly wouldn't fancy bikepacking with it but I use mine in the back of the van and it's great.

Ignore - sorry. Just spotted the line about looking for an alternative to Alpkit.

@cougar .....sleeping bag?? I have a T6, I use a double duvet filled with finest Russian Goose Down and stitching from the mane of a unicorn. Only the best for me!
I had a single 5cm mat and was a rubbish sleep as I was half on half off all night. I now have a 5cm double Vango mat and works well. Rolls up reasonably small as well.

We have a couple of the Decathlon ones and no issues so far, I have also given up on Alpkit due to too many failures.

Our Decathlon mats lasted 15 years(!) but are heavier and ours only a couple of cm thick.

I've now a pair of Robens mats, £40 in sale with a lifetime warranty.

Another decathlon vote thanks. Yep, shame about alpkit's failures. I have other kit from them and I like it.
