I only seem to be able to get Netflix/Amazon etc in HD
I've got the monitor (Samsung UH850 4k Quantum Dot) set at max resolution (3840 x 2160), into HDMI 2 which is HDMI 2.0
The monitor has to be 60hz and HDPC 2.2 to display 4k from Netflix, which I believe it is.
When I go to the graphics card settings (Intel UHD 630 - again, 4k capable), it gives various resolution options - at max resolution 3840 x 2160, it only gives the option for 30hz, but there are options for 60hz at lower resolutions.
Am I missing something, or have I just got an incompatible set up?
I'm not tech savvy btw
On a Mac? Watching from a browser? If so, Safari doesn't support 4k video.
Windows 10 - Edge and Netflix app, so should be fine - I'm sure it's the 30/60hz problem, but can't find a solution
Does the motherboard actually support HDMI 2.0? The graphics chip may be capable of that, but does it have an HDMI 2.0 connection?
And are you using a suitable cable? Needs to be "high speed HDMI".
Can you use a DisplayPort connection instead?
Have you installed HEVC Video Extensions package from the Windows Store?

Yes

Yes

Hmmm, could be this - how do I find the HDMI port spec - can't find it in the control panel?
*edit - specs list it as HDMI - can't find what type, but it's leaning towards 1.4 - what a pain! Dell Inspiron 3471
Can you use a DisplayPort connection instead?
Monitor, yes, PC not sure
(Intel UHD 630 – again, 4k capable)
The GFX chip might be capable of this but something in the rest of the system (eg chipset, CPU) might not be up to it. Check you motherboard / PC specification.
Can you allocate more RAM to it as video memory? Might be a setting in UEFI, I'm not sure. I've been avoiding integrated video wherever possible for the last 25 years.
Using the latest drivers? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29784/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers
1.4 I’m afraid.
Cheers - that bit was yellowed out when I checked
Would a USB 3.0 to display port adapter work - they have a self contained graphics card?
At that price are you not better off buying a streaming stick/device to shove in the HDMI port and by-passing the computer altogether? I assume that is technically possible.

... is the correct answer, really. That's not the most powerful PC ever, I'd be leaning towards fitting a discrete video card. And if you're going down that road purely for Netflix you might as well sack it off and get a Fire Stick that's designed to do exactly what you're trying to achieve.

Monitor has no sound card, so no
Do you mean speakers?
How's your audio being presented currently?
HEVC extensions - as P-Jay says - plus a discrete graphics card is the only way to get 4K Netflix on a PC. The graphics driver contains the required HDCP software. Use CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-D in Netflix to see streaming details though the trailers/intros can be HD
Prime still on HD.
Youtube 4k is fine though...

It's just a monitor, so doesn't deal with sound in any way.
Currently have a decent set of powered bluetooth speakers doing the sound business from the PC. There would be no way to get any sound from the firestick to the speakers I don't think *edit, just noticed the firestick has bluetooth, so maybe...

I have everything required spec wise, all but HDMI 2.0 or USB-C
Missed the monitor model in the OP. I own the same monitor - Samsung LU32H850UMUXEN. The monitor is NOT the problem.

Yeah, I know - annoyed that I bought a decent spec monitor and fell down on the PC spec.
Just realised we've got a Firestick in the kitchen I can try - not sure if it's the 4k one, but at least I can see if it will do the sound side of things

Do they have any form of audio in other than Bluetooth? You don't necessarily have to get sound from the stick, you have to get it from the telly.
Gotta say though, it seems a bit odd to me that you're worrying over attaining 4k@60Hz for video and yet are quite happy with a brace of BT speakers for audio.

My mistake, it does have audio pass through, so can go from a 3.5mm jack to the speakers. The audio is fine via bluetooth anyway.
I'm not fussed about 60hz per se - Netflix won't play in 4k @ 30hz though
