In a few weeks we are hosting the UK qualifier for the pumptrack world champs but timing needs to be processed through Germany.
Can anyone suggest a 4g dongle that we can use and then not need again. Had thought of hotspot ting phones but worried that data transfer would be slow.

I can't imagine it making much of a difference to speed - 4G is 4G. What a dongle might give you is greater coverage.

In any case, whatever solution you choose make sure you test it on site ahead of the event. All the Gs in the world ain't gonna help you if you're out of signal.

... is speed an issue, even? I don't know the details obviously, but that doesn't sound like a particularly data-heavy application.

one thing that can catch you out…. Standing on a hillside on the days ahead with your phone shows whether there’s signal or not. On event day if there’s a few hundred  other folk about with phones taking pics and video that their phone back up to the cloud and things grind to a halt .. no matter how many bars you’ve got.

4G is fine there, I suppose we need to check network differences. I just assumed it'd be easier through a single as opposed to laptop to phone to the magic air information.
