We bought a nice pink Sony CD player (2nd hand off eBay) for my daughter to play audiobook CDs she's been gifted and it's eating batteries at an alarmeing rate. I could get a set of rechargeables but it also takes a 4.5VDC/700mA +ve centre adapter which could make her sit still with it for a while.
There don't seem to be many options and it's the sort of thing that might easily go in someone's "useful to keep hold of box" if your house is big enough for such things.
So anyone got one? Happy to pay something for it and obvs postage. Just don't need to pay £15 for a brand new one.
Sorry if this is not the done thing but this was the first place I thought of.

You can often get them on Ebay cheap if you look at the sort of end you need?
Also there are some universal ones with lots of different connectors if you are not sure!
(I think I might have one of those around somewhere!)
Have a look on Ebay for a universal one. I got one for £7. Should do the job.
Thanks fo rthe suggestions but I'm really looking for a 1 piece type as my daughter is 7 and if there's a possibility something can fall off and get lost, it will fall off and get lost.
I think it's the small 2.1mm jack required but it's hard to tell. It's for a Sony D-EJ011
This is the bit from the manual that describes it
Use only the AC power adaptor supplied. If your player is not supplied with an AC power adaptor, use a commercially-available AC power adaptor* (rated output voltage/current: 4.5 V DC/700 mA). Do not use any other AC power adaptor.
With a small diagram showing the centre of the pin being +ve.
Obviously not helpful finding the size and my daughter has gone out to swimming with it so I can't measure anything right now - will report back.
The jack (or at leat the hole it goes into) appears to be 4.3mm diameter if that helps to narrow it down at all.

You can always glue the adaptable type ones together (some have a variety of ends rather than a spider connector). If you don't know the correct size or how to measure it this really is the best way.
You are over thinking it.
Get a universal adaptor with a variety of connectors and able to set the polarity, find the right pin and a few drops of super glue to fix it in position. Job done.
This one will do it.
