I'm getting a gopro on Saturday and would like to get some mounting accessories but wont use them enough to warrant genuine gopro prices.
It will be mainly use to film my 4 year old daughter playing on her bike or on her bmx at the skate park / pump track and for taking on holiday in the swimming pool etc.
I'm thinking a handlebar mount and seat post mount would be all I need so I can follow her or her follow me but looking on eBay there are a lot of kits that contain about a million mounts for a similar price to just the genuine bar/seat post mount from gopro but I don't want to buy a low quality kit and find that the mounts are rubbish and snap at the slightest sign of a bump or knock. I would rather get just the genuine mounts I need.

Any recommendation?

Cheers

Andy

I got a cheap handlebar mount one off ebay which I use on my seat post. I use that more than my chest or helmet mount.

One on a long stick would be good for filming your daughter. Should be able to get some interesting shots from above or by following her with the stick as she rides past you or you ride past her.

You could also be the coolest dad around and take some selfies.

No need for the original parts but check up on the reviews to be fairly sure you're not buying tut. My clamp style handlebar mount also works on the seatpost facing backwards ( a far more interesting shot if there's someone behind). A few of the straight and twisted connectors helps with getting it pointing in the right direction. I have a chest mount but it's main use is skiing. Next will be a strap mount so I can attach it to chain stays, forks and assorted other bits of the bike.

Akron gp134 looks like a useful bit of kit. And slightly off topic - get ruthless with editing. Anything more than one MP3 in length and my audience looks bored senseless.

I quite like the idea of buying a cheap set and modifying them and making some interesting mounts at work. I quite like the backwards facing helmet shots when the riders head stays still. Of course it looks better when the rider is doing backflips etc. My next post is going to be how do I teach a 4 year old to backflip when I can only manage 3/4 of one myself before giving up with a sore neck!

After searching for what seems like hours for a decent quality kit I decided to just buy the genuine gopro handlebar/post mount for now. My decision was made when I saw that a genuine mount is made from aluminium and most non-genuine appear to be made from plastic. If I had found a kit with universally good reviews I would of bought that but most have 50/50 reviews including some where peoples mounts have snapped resulting in the gopro taking a trip to the bottom of the sea etc. The accessories that have good reviews were too close to genuine gopro prices to bother with.

OT a bit but after the same dilemma I've just bought he 60M dive housing with wrist mount. Looking at the non gopro kit it all looked a bit flimsy, the go pro one is seriously well built and looks like excellent value for money

I have to admit to not actually seeing any of the 3rd party stuff only on-line but your right about the gopro stuff looking well made. I did over pay by going to curry's but it meant I have it for the weekend.

I bought the below for about £20 on ebay last year. The plastics where superb for the money.

DAZZNE:

In the box I got the Harness and the bike handlebar mount, Car windscreen mount...and other bits...it all fitted perfect to my Hero 3+.

Scrap what I said about the genuine ones being aluminium. Now I have opened the package they are clearly plastic.
I'll check out the ones on the links above thanks.

I like these aluminium handlebar mounts: http://www.dx.com/p/toz-professional-aluminum-bicycle-mount-clip-for-gopro-hd-hero-2-3-3-black-286289
They are cheap enough, and seem pretty solid.

I use one of these, really stable even on mountain bike.

Have a look on Amazon for stuff from Deyard or Smatree. I've had mounts from both with no issues at all. The Smatree batteries are meant to be better than the official gopro ones if you're needing extra batteries.

Can anyone recommend a suction mount?

I bought a cheapo one off ebay and it fell off under its own weight, the replacement lasted about 30 seconds before it fell off too.

Tempted by the genuine one but it doesn't rotate which could be awkward.
