Any difference in filament quality on cheap Vs expensive tail/stop bulbs. Or do they all self combust at the sight of the nearest pot hole?

Trying to recall the last time I had to replace a rear light bulb of any sort, coming up short on that one. I think I had rear indicator bulbs replaced for an MOT ‘cos the yellow coating had cracked, but those were the only ones that failed in the fifteen years I owned my Octavia.

Can’t say I’ve ever found it a huge problem. Maybe try LEDs? I know strictly they are illegal but I’ve run them in my Land Rover for ages without problems...

I always used to use Bosch pure light in the headlamps. Notably better than the Halfords ones. I've also bought them to replace tail/rear/brake lights fairly often but for tail lights that need to be seen not used to see I've never really noticed any significant downside to "whatever the petrol station has".

Trailer lighting boards seem to rip through bulbs faster than anything else and again I've never found any difference with those either as to how robust bulbs are.

I'd avoid anything that might not be CE marked from the usual online portals but other than that just grab what's convenient.

I've always used a branded one from local motor factors. Usually they have Bosch or Lucas.

I did have a Galaxy that ate both headlight and rear lights on a regular basis, like no other car I've owned.
