Seeking the wisdom of the group! Looking for a 3 man tent preferably:
Dome rather than tunnel
Outer shell erected first
Light weight.
I’ve got an old one which meets my own requirements apart from the last one (c 5.5kg) but it’s knackered and needs replacing.
Seen Coleman’s Tatra 3 which fits bill but just missed one on eBay.
Surely for a festival (with the inherent risk of some drunk person falling through it or worse) the answer is your old tent. What's the issue with weight at a festival, it's not going anywhere for three days then a short-ish (relative to climbing mountain) walk back tot he car.
Decathlon tent with the blacked out interior.
Depending on when you need it, look for something on Ebay. That's what I did and I ended up with a very decent Vango 3-man (which is really only suitable for two people - if you have 3 people, you'd be better off with a 4-man). It has a porch with a door which is useful to store boots n stuff so they are not on show.
Pole is knackered and one of the festivals is glastonbury and that can be a very long walk from the car!
and yes I want 3 person tent for 2 of us!
whatever you're happy to leave behind with everyone's else shit. That's the usual MO of festival tents?
The F&B tents at Decathlon are excellent. Based on a festival tent for 2 with a walk to site I would go for this
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/camping-tent-mh100-xl-3-p-fresh-black/_/R-p-331796?mc=8641758&c=BROWN_BEIGE
only £99 too. (still it doesnt beat my 4+1 F&B air tent I got for £99 a few years ago!)

Last time we were at Glastonbury I got chatting to the guys next to us – they had a brand new tent + camp beds, sleeping bags and chairs etc etc etc. They told me they were leaving the whole lot behind, as they do every single year – they just equated it to spending a few hundred quid each on a hotel and they said they just wanted to get up and get off early before the rush. My brother got the camping chairs but we weren't able to carry anything else on the very long walk back. Shocking behaviour.
Festival tents have a hard life, not to mention they can be theft magnets if they're too nice... Decathlon hit the mark pretty well I think.
Just be careful not to get too big a one or Frank Turner will turn up and play an acoustic set in it.
