Looking for a short term let for work.

Most agents don't let flats for less than 6-months.

Anyone help me with where to start.

Am in W.Yorks so not feasible to go and get a local paper.

There are quite a few serviced apartments around - quite close to the centre. No idea what kind of budget you're looking at though.

Serviced apartments are way too expensive for me.

Looking at £800 per. month at most.

Might only need digs from Sunday to Thursday though.

tried gumtree? usually plenty of adverts although might be hard to secure it if you can't view in person.

probably better off looking there than local newspapers, but watch out for scammers....

try www.spareroom.co.uk

Should be plenty of people offering places for 3 months

There's a few dodgy parts of Bristol (St Pauls wasn't great when I lived there - pretty sure Bedminster wasn't good either), so do a bit of research before you commit

Gumtree should sort you out. Put an ad in their 'accommodation wanted' section with your requirements as well as seeing what the 'short term to let' ads say. Worked fine for me a few months back.

St Pauls is awesome now. When did you live there? I bet quite a few years ago. It is getting rather gentrified now!

What area do you need to be near for work? The only places I wouldn't want to live are pretty much Knowle, Southmead and Brislington (due to locations and people)

I've used holiday lets for that sort of time but it was around Harrogate.

Knowle

Are you sure you don't mean Knowle West? Or is it just the middle classes living there you don't like?

dirty - I think you meant 'Knowle West'. The rest of Knowle is a pretty good area to live. Same for Totterdown and (since it was mentioned), most of Bedminster.

Bristol's changed a lot since 2002 (which was when I moved back here as it goes...)

Brislington's still a shithole though. 😀

Well that's my stance but I have been shown to be partially wrong when some mates moved there (admittedly not near the A4 road to hell) and it actually seems quite nice.

I still wouldn't want to though 😉

I live in Knowle, it always amuses me when people ask:

"Where do you stay?"

"I live up in Knowle"

*sharp intake of breath, in the manner of a tradesman about to give an expensive quote*

"no no, not knowle west!"

"aaaaaaaah"

St George is grim now, used to be great.

Any of the flat finding sites should be able to help you out.

Yeah that's rubbish. Easton is (can be) a great place

I hear the furniture in Emersons Green is niche enough for hipsters downtown.

Get the facts straight please. We are in Lower Knowle, where the elite live 😉

replied to your wanted thread as it was pointed out by a mate.

I've got a flat I'm just about to put up for rent in Cotham - perfect flat for a cyclist but am looking for a long term tenant. We do have a spare room down to the south of bristol we have been thinking about renting out.

Yes, they moved from Horfield to Easton about 3 months ago and their car insurance almost doubled!
kind of says something about the area.

I used to go to the Black Swan quite a bit and have seen a fair amount of Easton.

My mate's dad's taxi company would never pick us up actually in Easton.

I know it has cleaned up a bit but I would still avoid it.

Seriously? I used to live in Horfield on Filton Avenue and I had so much more trouble/abuse than I have ever received in Easton. (I am ginger so I get shouted at/beaten up quite often)

Greenbank in Easton is lovely.

Wells Road: if it's before (i.e. town side) of Broadwalk then yes, close to Totterdown which is great with good pubs. Other side, nothing wrong with it at all but I wouldn't personally.

Duckmoor Rd - yep close to top of North St which is great for eating and drinking.

When do you need? My work mate has a 1 bet flat in totterdown coming free last week of sept. Ace place to be. PM me and i can put you in contact. I'm guessing it will be below your budget too.

And we both work at the Bottle Yard Studios.....which is about 20min ride from totterdown.

No, just what you and I would call Totterdown. The spikyhairshinysuit brigade like to distinguish between the bit of Totterdown where I live (the bit behind Tesco Express) and the bit further up the Wells Road towards Knowle.

Nice area, I live round there. Quiet and handy for the big Tesco on callington road.

Not too far into town either, easily walkable. Going home is always up hill though!

Takes about 30mins to spin to the trails.

Yep Hill St is very nice. Easy stumble home from the Shakey too (not that it's all that these days, not like when Mad Ernie ran it, but still not a bad boozer).
