I’m not sure I can manage another morning waiting for my olds to get moving so fancy a scenic fast three hour walk tomorrow morning. I’m at Levens but happy to drive to get a classic peak in.
Any recommendations gratefully received.
Does 3 hrs include driving?
If not - drive A590 to Coniston and up to the car park on Walna Scar. Walk Coniston Old Man, Swirl How and Wetherlam if time. Plenty short cuts.
Howgills from Sedbergh?
Or Whitbarrow Scar from Levens?
Minimal driving I'd agree with Whitbarrow Scar or how about a nice walk from Sizergh Castle? Or you could drive over to Arnside and do a loop including Arnside Knott for a good view of the estuary and over to Grange?
loughrigg Fell summit from Rydal is doable in that time. Fantastic scenery and take in the cave on the way back down.
Another vote for Whitbarrow. Or Hampsfell. Or Humphrey Head. Or you could try one or more of the routes on this: https://www.ruslandhorizons.org/project/the-greenwood-trail.aspx
We've done them all and enjoyed them. I know they aren't 'classic peaks' but they are interesting local-ish walks with great views.
Another alternative is drive to Trover head up the footpath to Walna Scar Rd. Turn left, follow up to Brown Pike, past Buck Pike, Dow Crag, drop down to Goats Hause past Goat's Water and back. On a good day there are some lovely views. And you can have a pint and some grub in The Wilson's after.
A couple of others
Walking from Levens - Scout Scar and the Mushroom circular walk via Sizergh Castle and the grandly named Parish Church of Saint John Helsington. This is a brilliant scenic walk - views and landscape similar to Whitbarrow. Can be extended to Cunswick Scar.
With some driving - From Ulpha or Broughton Mills - a circuit of Dunnerdale Fells.
Bloody hell, now I’m spoilt for choice 🤣
Thanks for the suggestions.
Well I did this in the end, partly because of the bold bit.

Walk was superb, despite average weather. Thanks. Finished bang on 3 hours, but the pub wouldn’t serve beer at 10am unfortunately.
Ah great stuff! Glad you enjoyed it. You'll have to come back another (sunny) day when the pub is open!
Would love to. Affan tomorrow though, so not much chance of sun for me here.
