Got a few days away booked in Abergavenny with Mrs B.
Plan on the usual visits like Sugar Loaf/Hay bookshops/Patrishow church/Crug Mawr/Llanthony/maybe the pub at Craswall
Would welcome local knowledge for anything else.
Abergavenny pubs with good food ?
Good independent restaurants or coffee places?
Any brewpubs or micropubs?
Any other places worth visiting ?
Thanks in advance!
We had a really nice lunch at the Three Horeshoes Inn at Groesffordd which is half an hours drive away.
Brecon Tap did good beer and pies, although I haven't been for a couple of years.
Crickhowell is a nice town nearby to wander around with some nice pubs. @Welshfarmer was a font of local knowledge when we visited Abergavenny in the Autumn just gone. Mostly for mtb related info but I'm sure he would know about the other stuff.

Fig Tree cafe was great before COVID . Nice little cafe in Linda Vista gardens
My mate reckons Madame Fromage is excellent
Crickhowell has some very nice cafes too
Walk the Wain Fach circular walk from Pengenffordd
Have a meal in the pub in Cwmdu after
Big Pit. Mandatory if you're staying in Aber. Took some younger relatives there last year and they knew nothing about the Miners strike!
Clytha Arms (old Monmouth road). Good selection of proper beer. Food well rated, but I was disappointed with the veggie meal I had.
Lounge Bar in Aber is good for 'lite bites'. Coffee so so.
Walk up the Blorenge and then a swim in Keepers Pond. Ring the Tudor Brewery before hand and find out who has their Blorenge beer on tap. That's your golden ticket right there.
The Angel in Abergavenny has been great food each time I've been.
For lunch, Harry's do a good carvery baguette.
If self catering, sausages from Rawlings are spot on meaty lumps.
Skirrid is a nice to walk ridge and viewpoint on a clear day.
If heading to Brecon for beers, I would suggest Hop In before Brecon Tap. I'm not a drinker, but that is the first port of call when put with drinking friends.
Thanks everyone, plenty there.
Agree with Big Pit, did it a couple of times with the small ones, but Mrs B is a bit claustrophobic so maybe not this time!
