You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
...4 residents - parents in their mid 50's, son in his late 20's and his girlfriend. 6 cars including 2 4X4's, 1 people carrier, a Volvo estate and now a 7th vehicle - a bloody big boat on a bloody big trailer. A driveway big enough for 2 cars so the rest of their vehicles are scattered liberally around our very small Cul-de-sac. Now I'm well aware that nobody owns any particular area of road or footpath whether it's outside their own home or not but am I unreasonable in my annoyance at their selfishness? Kids used to play in our street because traffic obviously isn't an issue - no chance of that now with fear of kicking a ball against their fleet of vehicles and if anyone else in the street ever dared to have a visitor they'd be parking in the next street.
It's a very minor thing I realise but surely sometimes you have to say to yourself 'as much as I'd love a collection of cars or a bloody boat, I only have space for 2 and it's not really fair on everyone else so we'll have to give this one a miss'.
Offer to rent them your drive?
Either that or stop whinging/ move house
Probably on benefits too...
awesome advice there...

No, there must be another option. I might start an urban street football team for the local kids. Volvo's for goalposts.
Probably on benefits too...
How predictable. 🙄
Yeah, see a lot of this round my neck of the woods. Not much you can do though so just file them under "cocks, selfish" and move on* IMO.
* as in carry on with your life [adjusted taking into account said vehicles] not move house 🙂
If you aren't prepared to go and talk with them about it, which it sounds like you've not, nor likely too - stop complaining.

We've had many a chat about it. They don't care so do nothing.
pretty selfish IMO, but not much you can do I reckon.
The vehicles that are on the street do have to have valid tax, mot and insurance though, otherwise they are breaking the law. So you could check all that out for all the vehicles.
I take it the boat is on the drive? If on the road it should be left hitched to a vehicle otherwise it is without 3rd party insurance. (I think)
Boats need tax ?
Write something offensive on the cars in dog poo.
The sort of neighbours that do that sort of thing are the reason I like to live in the middle of nowhere.
Having said that, the sort of neighbour who would sneak around checking other peoples tax disks would have the same effect on me 🙄
Can you get some mates to use up the spaces for a couple of days? Just send beer invites.
* hoping you're in Edinburgh*
Pretty selfish but hard to deal with. We live just adjacent to the bohemian part of the city and lots of the side roads are filled with parked buses, vans and horse boxes converted to campers. They just sit there for months.
Time for some rude dawbings on their cars, cockpiss partridge is an old fave...

Let ALL the tyres down?
I'll send my neighbours' kids around. They'll be so sick of their cars being beaten up with footballs they'll probably move themselves.
As I said, I realise there are far bigger things in the world to stress over but it's just the selfishness of it that I find hard to comprehend. In all honesty it doesn't have any real affect on me but I do feel sorry for neighbours who have kids who used to play in the street. It's rare that kids can play (relatively) safely in their own street so it was a bonus to living in a Cul-de-sac but there is literally no room on the street now due to all the cars. It's not like they just have a car each which I'd obviously have no issue with. But 6 cars and a boat! I just have a mindset that you have a social responsibility and that sometimes means you can't have or do whatever you want.
Anyway, I just wanted to field some opinions as to whether I was being unreasonable In my mild annoyance.
Its a road as you say, they can park as many legal cars as they like in it .Also roads are not for playing footie in !!
Put all the reg numbers in the MID database.
http://www.askmid.com/
If it really annoys and they are not insured and sat on the highway dob them in to crimestoppers.
Otherwise let them get on with it.
Certainly anti-social but unless they are blocking the road or parked on the pavement there isn't a lot you can do. You can park on the road yourself thus reducing available space for them but that just raises the temperature. I believe they cannot park the boat on the street, that must be in their drive.
Wait till they go out and order them a skip and a couple of portaloos. Or get some mates to come round and park them in. Last resort put all the cars and boat on ebay/gumtree
If everyone else in the street know one person to come in the middle of the day and park up for a day or so (assuming there are spaces during working hours) it would prove a point if nothing else...
We have increasingly problematic parking in our road. With most houses not having off street parking, the expensive solution is to put in a drive and drop kerb, providing a 'visitor space' blocking you in.
I think they are selfish bar stewards & I'd feel as pissed off as you if my kids couldn't play outside as generations probably have done before the r soles moved in. You have my sympathy.
But, I think we need to really pass our thanks to those kind souls who have helpfully pointed out that they can park where they like, that the road isn't for football etc. Really helpful info, so cap doffed etc, your moral duty done etc. 🙄
buy a shitty old transit and leave it outside their house
for bonus points draw a big wanger on the side for them to see whenever they leave the house
