My daughter is after a small van that she can sleep in for outdoor trips. Thinking Berlngo/Partner ideally L2, possibly Dispatch etc. Budget about max £4000.

Any advice on things to avoid, recommended vans etc?

My son bought a Renault Kangoo for just this.

Its only a short wheelbase so you have to fold the front seats forward to sleep in and we built a simple L shaped sofa which pulls out to form a double bed (with storage below for camping kit).

He has a roof box for camping chairs bbq etc and my old F35pro awning on a roof rack which gives some outdoor weather protection.

Advantage of the SWB is really just parking and there were more vans to choose from - he would have got the longer wheelbase if he could have.

1.5d has been reliable, think it is a little of 100k and shows no signs of problems. Apart from a broken spring and normal consumables the whole van has been reliable.

Has taken him around UK and Ireland but covid killed off EU dreams for last year and this probably this year. He is making plans for 2022!

She may be better with the actual car and covering back windows as van insurance can be very costly plus she may get a better car for her cash as I think vans are at a premium just now (certainly worth looking into these options for her).

^This. Van market has a hefty covid tax at the moment due to every man and his dog taking up a trade in something they did once a few years back.

Berlingo Multispace or similar and get a limo tint on the back windows.

Our daughter has done it for a few years in a Tourneo Connect. Been all over the UK and Europe. The insurance was alot cheaper than the equivalent van. She has the Decathlon drive away air awning when she's away for some time

She bought some blinds from ebay that fit inside all the windows

There's a camper, think it's the Berlingo out side a house that we pass on the way to work that up for sale but no price on it.

Don't buy a red one. Will most likely be ex post office and either done a gazillion stop starts or 300 days of rally stages per year.

And getting rid of cat hair from the passenger seat will be a total bastard
