Slight noob question on behalf of son who wants a 2nd hand PS4, main options seem CEX who just sell it as they get, or Back to Market, Music Magpie etc. who list them as "refurbished" and a little more expensive
Is a "refurbished" one much better than a boxed/unboxed option from CEX? Is anything meaningful actually done to refurbish them and be worth the extra cost?
Also, last time I bought a console it was 1 option so different size options are new to me. Is 500gb likely to be enough or should we go for a 1tb? Or does it really depend on what games and how many of them he is planning?
Get at least 1tb, and a Hybrid SSHD will make it faster

Bought PS4 Pro upgraded to 2tb SSD with 14 games and 3 controllers off eBay for £205. Seems to be in really good nick. Just have to sort through the listings for what looks like a decent deal.
If it's of interest, I'm about to list a PS4 500gb, with two wireless controllers, charge cradle, 14 games inc Red Dead Redemption, Shadow of the Colossus, Jedi Fallen Order, The Last of Us Remastered, Hitman, etc. £115 posted. Not heavily used, maybe on average once per fortnight on average. Excellent condition and nothing at all wrong with it.
In original box along with all game boxes. We're moving house soon and I'm getting rid of things that're barely used, so the Xbox, PS4, Switch (now sold) and the two PS3s need to go.
