You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi
Does anyone know of any insurance company that would insure my mobile phone that's 2nd hand it's used and I bought it from eBay but it's immaculate and worth about £200 due to being a bit of a clutz I want to insure it just having problems finding anyone.
My house insurance has a £100 excess so can't really do that
Any advice warmly welcome
Cheers
Mark
Probably more cost-effective to buy a decent case I'd have thought.
Protect My Bubble.
If you were an insurance company, would you insure a 2nd hand mobile phone, with no knowledge of it's history.
For those less-scrupulous than us Singletrack users, it sounds to me like the perfect opportunity for an easy bit insurance fraud, therefore, premiums and excess would have to be stupid.
I would only use a rugged smartphone now, as they are quite cost-effective and more MTB-crash proof. If you already have the phone, buy an otterbox, or similar.
Second hand should be irrelevant, any insurer will likely ask for the IMEI number so it's registered. The price you paid will likely be irrelevant though, it'll be based on the value of the phone.
Protect my Bubble probably as good as anyone, easy enough to get a quote.
Is it really worth it? Not suggesting i'd be happy losing 200quid but if its say 5quid a month after a year your phine has cost 250 notes.
Just stick 5pound a month in an account and self insure?
We've got phone insurance as part of our bank account. It also has travel insurance and breakdown cover. There is a charge for the account but this charge is almost covered by the cash back on bills and credit card so it works out OK.
If you don't fancy that then I'd do as Josh suggests. Stick £5-10 into a savings account every month. If the phone breaks you have something to pay for a repair or put towards a new phone. If it doesn't break you can buy yourself a treat
