News reporting states that Rocketman's latest gift to the world has reached 2780 miles above earth...

Given that the IS Space Station orbits at 205 - 270miles, this rocket went ten times further....

Obviously, space does as the name suggest, contain a lot of space but is this possible / likely to be correct?

Seems a bit excessive given wiki says apogee is normally around the 1,200 mile mark. I suppose it demonstrates that the missile is powerful enough to reach the correct apogee on a flatter trajectory ie a much bigger potential range rather than going straight up and ending up in the Sea of Japan. Don't think the altitude has been confirmed publicly outside the NK propaganda.
