So the MIL came back from a safari holiday yesterday.
I shipped her off with a new SD card in her barely used camera and, despite saying she probably wont use it, has come back with 591 photos.
So, I was thinking of putting them through windows movie maker and fade into each other etc but the last time I did that they appeared to lose quality.
She doesn't have access to a PC but has a DVD player.
I was thinking of putting the better ones in into a photobook and I expect a proper trawl through, ingoring duplicates etc, will end up with around 250 shots. Any suggestions as to the best way to store and display this amount in a handy fashion. Or just print them?

I stick all mine on Flickr and send people a link to the Slide show. If they're not IT literate, create a book of photos eg:

digital frame sounds a good idea

-1 for frame

got one for crinklies (75+), it pissed them off, (it was one where you either select a fixed display or loop, they hated the loop as they couldn't stop it when they wanted and they couldn't work the menu so couldn't get one they liked to display, but to be fair my dad's done manual labour for 60 years and his finger tips are about 1" diameter) what does work is showing them the lot on computer (ie with you driving) and then sending them prints of the selected ones in nice frames

Difficult one, but I think I'd probably get a couple of the best ones printed and framed so she has an accessible reminder.
DVD? Is she really going to go through all the pictures one by one each time she wants to look at or show them?
Someone like photobox will print all of them for little cost and if she doesn't have access to a pc it sounds like she hasn't yet fully embraced technology.

Prints in an album. Digi frames are crap.

Photoframes might be crap, but going by the number of people I know who have them in their homes on display, they seem to be a popular way to display family pics.

Get the book/album - much better than frame, as above MIL hates hers as she cannot control it, stop it etc.

Snapfish often do 60 free prints when you sign up - also do calendars, mugs etc. My Dad liked a mug with pics on.

Some TV's have a USB port and can be set up to show a sideshow of JPEG images - sort out the best pictures, edit them to the correct size (eg 1920 x 1080 for showing on a full HD TV) , store them as JPEGs on a USB memory stick and you're good to go.

First of you need to loose about 500 of them. Nobody wants to sit though nearly 600 photos. Even only glancing at them that's 2hrs of photo viewing tedium right there.

Best bet is the best 50ish in a photo book to show people when they come round.

You can get some beautiful books made, big glossy prints. We had one made after a New York trip with me mum and sisters.
Much nicer than a poxy electric frame.

I'd go for the real album too

My folks were in Singapore during the coronation (1953) and came back with a beautiful album with the Raffles hotel all decked out on its cover etc. All their photos got put in that.
anyway, we've since had all the photos scanned but they don't even come close to going through the book to view them
So I'd just get a few dozen printed and make an album up
