looking at getting an airo camping mat from alpkit, as my current mat has just been weighed in a frenzy of pre tour action, and comes in at 1200g.
i figure as ive got a heavier car camping mat, to go for a lighter bivvy type mat as a second.
except no 180s in stock!
anyone here use a 2/3rds length mat?
with issues?
or could get the numo superlight one, that you have to inflate yourself, but wouldnt it get full of moisture if you had to blow it up?
needs a bike pump valve on it surely?
Socks?
Put the rucksack under your feet.
what Edukator said.
The problem isn't cold feet so much as condensation making your sleeping bag damp. Just stuff something under your feet as suggested.
hum.
and in a bivvy bag? is condensation a problem still?
options are, having spent 250 quid on a nice light down bag, take a 1100g mat for 2 weeks touring, or buy a 400g 3/4 length mat.
full length lightweight mats out of stock 🙁
could give AK a ring tomorrow I guess :s
Down bag and 2 weeks in a bivi bag. I hope it's dry irrespective of your mat.
Did a few weeks in the Alps one summer in a bivi/down combo.
A couple of visits to the nearest tunble dryer was needed.

Problem solved.
If you look hard enough you'll find it £20 cheaper.
