500g up this week, not surprised, my will power is faltering because of life stressing. Being allowed time to actually ride a bike would help too.

So I wasa bit dispirited with only 0.2kg loss for this week. Decided to re-weigh this morning and despite Friday been a more relaxed higher carb day I've dropped another 0.4kg over night if the scales are to be believed.

Be nice if this stuff was just consistent and linear eh?!

Slight loss to 83.6kg. I'll take that, activity levels up, hit a few PBs on rides, trying to get the snacking under control.

100g. Not a happy bunny. I’ve done proper exercise 6 days out of the last 7 and stayed under 1700 calories every day except Sunday where I had 2 330ml beers. I’m also constantly hungry with a rumble tum. I’ve just had breakfast and it’s still ****ing rumbling!!!

Doomanic maybe you the same issue as I assume I had with some water retention, assuming it's not bowel retention? With those cals and that exercise something's got to give.

I often suffer with inflammation after exercise and a rest day or two it will go and with it the water weight.

Down 300g on last week, modest but I seem to be loosing 300 to 400 every week. Was hoping for more, bit like the above been exercising pretty hard 5 days a week which is more than I normally manage, haven't been calorie counting but have reduced food intake, a good example being an Indian takeaway last night, only ate half will have the rest today rather than pig out last night. I think its the lack of movement during the day, I'm literally spending 9 hours a day sat a desk with very few breaks. At work there would have been some walking around, even just to get to the car, probably up and down stairs 10, 15 times in a day, being stood up for 30 to 40 minutes at a stretch. WFH has seriously reduced my background energy consumption.

That all said I'm definitely fitter than I was and the weight is coming off slowly.

When do you guys all weigh yourselves? I do it just before bed, consistently, last night I had 2 beers before bed, that's a good 700 grams extra.

I weigh first thing in the morning. This is probably most consistent I find (and lightest!)

My weight fluctuates by up to 1kg over a week. Lightest Weds/Thursday heaviest Sunday/Monday. Which is why tracking rolling average works best for me

I used to jump on the scales most mornings but since joining Chub Club I've reduced the weigh-ins to Friday mornings only. This is better for me, as I'm more likely to have a "treat" if I see a mid-week loss!

Old dog same for me, weighing daily keeps me honest but use a five day rolling average for reporting.

I weigh-in first thing in the morning, preferably after making a deposit. Friday for this, but usually Monday and Wednesday too to keep an eye on things.

This morning was out of interest as I was disappointed with what I saw yesterday, and happy I did 😁

Maybe this is where I'm going wrong, 1st thing post poop I'd be over a kilo lighter.

I weigh myself first thing in the morning, once per week, post pee but pre poop.

Out of curiosity I've just weighed myself again.

So that's post pee, post poop, post cup of tea, post porridge, post protein bar, post hot chocolate, post lemon drizzle cake, post 42.6 mile ride, post two slices of toast, post choccy hob nob, post another pee. The result? 1.2KG lighter than this morning.

I can see nearly a 2kg swing after a big ride, must be all the water I forget to drink!
Have figured out I'm usually 1kg heavier in the evening compared to the morning on average too. I just take the weight every morning after no 1/2 (as required) and use that, consistency is key. Doesn't help that my 'regular pattern' is every other day so it's sometimes a heavy it light day in the Friday. And yes, I do know that my deposits are usually around the 1/2kg mark!

Hi all - Sadly someone is deliberately deleting data and removing some of the users (myself included!). I have restored the spreadhseet to 7:28pm on Friday 5th March. Someone must be upset over their lack of weight loss 😉

-2.1kg this week which is a bit of a surprise. I have changed my diet a bit and have now started having porridge for breakfast and a 2 egg spinach and cheese omelette for lunch. I'm not that fussed about snacking but if i do get peckish in-between meals i have a boiled egg, some pickled onions/cornichons, an apple or 20-25g almonds. Main meal in the evening is pretty standard but always something home-cooked. I've now hit my first target of 85kg (13.5st) so am now aiming for 76kg (12 stone) for sometime in May/June. My decision to lose weight started back in the middle of December when i stood on the scales and weighed in at 101kg which was a massive shock. This really gave me a kick up the arse as I hit 50 last year in July, and had promised myself to get a healthy BMI score before i turned 51.

I'm definitely seeing benefits in riding/climbing when out with my riding mates. But the lack of calories (1500-2000) means i do feel pretty fatigued on a Sunday evening after a longish 40-50mile road ride.

Thanks again to Coconut for setting up Chub Club, it has definitely gave me an extra boost knowing that I have to log my number on a Friday morning.

Excellent to hear Frankers, keep it up!

A modest 0.3kg loss this week, down to 79.3kgs. Strangely the bit of flab round my belly got bigger this week despite the weight loss, must be water. I don't think I'm going to make much progress though until I can get out on the bike for big days and burn some big calorie numbers. Promising news from the WAG today about that getting closer, hopefully just after the Easter break. Will have to see if I can do some convoluted local routes when the weather plays ball instead.

Was quite disheartened on the scales yesterday showing a gain, but shows a loss today so I'll take that.

Frankers that is big weight loss do far this year more than I lost over all of last year. If you're riding and losing energy you need more fuel.
You've done good losing so much, I would say eat a bit more, enjoy you're ride you deserve that.

Slight(100g) loss. At least it's not a gain. Hopefully like RJ, when I can more than one ride a week in it will be better.

You could be like me. A couple of weeks of minimal loss registering and then 1.8kg loss in a week with no significamt change in cals or activity.

Exercising every day (mostly zone 2 with some training using intervals) but my weight is staying the same. I've virtually cut out booze and have dramatically cut down on sweet and fatty snacks too.

Not overly concerned as my main aim is to get fitter but I'd have expected some weight loss after 4 weeks training.

My aim is still to go from 80kg to 74kg, which is the weight I got down to last year.

So another 4 weeks of training with a week's rest after. Then 6 weeks of training with weight loss as my primary goal whilst trying to maintain the fitness gains I've made.

By June I should be fitter, stronger and lighter 🤞

I think I see your problem, try starting at 106 Kg, that makes it easier. My pie in the sky target is 80kg. Interestingly I think I've had a good week despite doing nothing different, been losing around 300g per week, this week looks like a good 800g, weigh in before bed will see, desperate for beer though, might have one.

My fitness is definitely better though, first session on the exercise bike I just managed 10.6km and was on the verge of throwing up. Clocked over 13km tonight and it felt fairly leisurely, managed over 14km earlier in the week but that was hard going. Jyst wish I could get out on the proper bike but the weather is terrible, don't mind rain and cold but the sleet, hail and strong winds are definitely putting me off.

Down 0.6kg which after a week of doing bugger all after my knee physio execises threw my si joint out and has had me on the floor most of the week is good. Back feels much better this morning after deep massage yesterday,so maybe I'll actually be able to get exercising properly again with no more trauma... 🙄

Back up 400g but bodyfat slightly down, supposedly.

Too many excuses not to exercise, too much mindless snacking. This attempt to get my shit together this year is doing a great job of just revealing my weaknesses week after week.

Pinging around mid 73kg at the moment. Was up a bit last week, down a bit this week, but seem to have plateaued rather than seeing a steady decrease.

I've lost a bit of motivation & there's been a lot of biscuits & things in the house which are hard to resist...

I'm hoping now homeschooling has stopped I will find more time for some day time walks etc. to get a bit more exercise in.

Down 200g. 🙁 Not a lot but it's slowly going down and with the lack of riding and motivation due to the weather. I'll blame the weather. 🙂 it's better than slowly going up.

I haven't logged on the spreadsheet for a few weeks, but the healthy eating and slightly obsessive running has continued. I even made it out for a 5am prework ride on the road bike the once this week.

Finally crept under 100kg and just into the overweight BMI range, not sure I'd have made such a concerted effort without the posts here and a goal to hit.

Now the struggle is not relaxing and ending up right where I started....

A solid 0.5kg loss this week! It must be the fact that I'm now allowed to travel further afield so have done a few longer rides with much more hills, burning at least 50% more calories each time. Only been out twice this week, the rest being Zwift and walking but it's seemingly made a big difference. Hopefully it's the start of a trend.

An increase this week (again). I’ve discovered that the medication I’m on for the rest of my life can cause weight gain. I’ve been knocking my pan in exercise wise but getting nowhere! Time for a rethink!

Weight is pretty much the same again this week. I think I'm doing something wrong with my diet. I think I need to eat more veg and protein. According to my fitness Pal my calories are in are less than what I'm burning but it would seem that these calories are carb heavy.

Another 3 weeks of this training plan and then it's a rest week. Followed by a dedicated 6 week weight loss period, just need to adjust my diet to try to maintain all the gains whilst losing fat. 🤞

I think I came to this conclusion a while ago. Exercise is important for all sorts of benefits to do with efficient CV function, controlling damaging inflammatory hormone responses, mental health etc.

But losing weight is really about significantly cutting energy input.

I agree, for me a big part of it is cutting out Alcohol, refined sugar and lowering food/calorie intake. I think exercise forms about 50% of the weight loss process/plan.

Well done longdog, I think for me it'll either be same again for the 3rd week or a modest 100g lighter. On the upside I'm definitely fitter than I've been in a long time, did a road ride last Sunday with a massive hill, 1000ft in 3 miles and didn't stop (or throw up) and managed a PB on the exercise bike, beating my previous distance record from 10 years ago.

Another 200g lost this week, steady progress down and it should continue as we're opening up from tomorrow so big rides are an option again. Would have been a bigger loss this week but I bought the easter eggs for the family on Tuesday and I can never resist having one or two for myself!

Last push now!
Weight is getting pretty close to what I think the crappy joints would prefer.

I *still* feel like I'm hauling lead though, so (oh god no!) have got some leucine powder to have after workouts, have taken up a bit of weight training and started a 6 week course of good old spatone in case the issue is iron levels. See how I feel after a month or 2 of that...

Last week was the first week of being up a smidge however I have been eating my way through Covid. Feel pretty grim and I ain't dieting whilst I am feeling this poorly! If I can come out the other side just a shade up I will be happy :).

And I think I can still hit my goal assuming I recover enough to resume exercise in the next few days...

Suspiciously exactly the same weight after a week of similar calories and exercise 🙄

It is what it is on the scales, but pretty sure I'm seeing a visible difference. I did eat more bready carbs yesterday than usual (still within calories), so could just be more water held in with them. Yet to poo too!

Exercise has been a struggle with my false knee flaring up after a decent ride last Saturday, but still done about 8.5 hours between cycling walking and swimming since last weigh in.

Hopefully I'll get a 'whoosh' for next weigh in. Best of luck everyone👍

I have plateaued for a couple of weeks now but consciously took a few days off the food and drink tracking last weekend to celebrate my wife’s birthday so not too worried. Enjoyed some wine, crisps, cake, pizza and Indian food and feel all the better for it.

Still did loads of exercise to offset though...

Back to plan on Monday, weighted myself today and surprised to find myself lighter than before the food holiday. I guess the metabolism enjoyed the kick start too.

0.5kg gain this week, though was expecting it! Have been doing the rounds of family and friends for Easter all week so the chocolate intake has gone up a week earlier than it should, we all agreed to avoid trying to do it all over the weekend. With that all over and done with it should be a straight run to the new end of May 7th.

Sort of at goal weight but that's, you know, after a gazillion poos and no breakfast, and a run. Hoping to get to the point where I can weigh myself any morning and be at or under goal weight, by May 7th.
Eating masses of chocolate yesterday may have helped as it killed any desire to eat more for a good long while 🤢

I didn't sign up to this edition of fatbusters but since the beginning of February I've gone from 113.4 down to 103.8kg on the "mostly keto" diet, it's the lightest I've been in years so pretty chuffed. Pretty much no exercise either as I'm still messed up from long covid.

Lost half a kilo. Going down slowly weight wise but see to have gone down half a size on my waist as the Madison shorts that were a tad tight are a bit loose now enen after cinching them up as much as possible.

Down a bit, 400 grams, beer and takeaway last night didn't help. Still heading down though. Been harder over the last week keeping momentum and I'm on holiday for the next week, need to keep the exercise up and snacking down. Weather isn't helping, really cold and overcast with quite a strong westerly breeze made rising a lot less fun.

Fell off the wagon with a huge bump over the BH - cake! Chocolate! Wine! Toast! I mean, not to any sort of wild excess, but I find these days I have to just see a sugarlump out of the corner of my eye to put on a kilogram.
Planning to do a lot of walking this week though so ... Yeah I think time to put the rest of the chocolate in the freezer.

Down 0.7kg or 1.5lbs this week, happy with that considering my quad tendon is stopping play with any meaningful exercise at the moment.

Anyone had quad/patella tendonosis issues with any advice? Mine's not been right since partial knee replacement 2.5 years back.

Currently stretching quads, hams and calf's and doing slant board eccentrics and wall sits. Been trying an easy 30min spin on the turbo occasionally, but not sure if that's a good thing.

Trying not to over do it on the rehab exercises too though which is hard given its about all I'm doing!

Only 0.4kg/1lb down, which is fine, but I'm pretty sure it's more as my legs feel pretty inflamed from a ride last night, and I know there a train in the station!

I've gained a little this week but seem to have plateaued at 13 1/2 stone this year and struggling to get below.

Need to tighten lock on the biscuit tin and stop snacking as much.

After a very stressful few days that have meant my snacking and junk food consumption has been terrible I was very surprised to find I'd lost 0.3kg this week! Will try and get back well into the 78's by the end of this, should be doable with a bit of willpower.

The positive though is that without this as motivation I dread to think what my weigh would have been up at!

After 15 weeks of 2021 chub club I have lost exactly...... naff all!

All's not as bad as this may seem.

I'm mostly ok with this as over the last 9 weeks I have been making a concerted effort to get fit (relatively speaking). With my ride last night finally showing some return of form. Now I'm going to up my riding time (all zone 2 ish) and cut down on my food intake.
Hopefully this should see me lose some a kgs whilst maintaining the fitness gains I've made.

Wish me luck 🤞

Upping your volume and cutting at the same time unless the cut isnt too much is going to be detrimental to your ride and leave you generally feeling crap.

Assuming the last 15weeks you've maintained (not gained) even though you've not lost, just upping your volume at the same intake will have you lose weight. Obviously depends how much you're upping your volume, but I'd be wary about been too aggressive with the cutting of cals.

Granted you don't give any figures so maybe that's in hand anyway.

All the best with it 👍

After being a reet fat biffa for years and years - and steadily getting bigger - I made a concerted change during lockdown last year to up the exercise I was doing.

I started weighing myself again weekly in June when I was 18 stone 8.4lb (!). I'm just over 6ft but that's a serious amount of portliness on any scale - just under 35 BMI. I'd started doing a lot more walking back in April, about 2-3 miles a day but hadn't weighed myself back then and there's every chance I was a lot heavier in April.

I got down to a low last year of 17 stone 5.6lb then plateaued before Xmas. I put a few pounds on over Xmas and ended up the year at 17 stone 9.8lb. Just exercising, not dieting.

In January I downloaded the 'Nutracheck' app on my phone and recorded everything I ate. I figured that as I didn't have time in my day to up the walking miles then I probably needed to monitor what I was eating if I wanted to lose more weight. It was £20ish to get access for a year, there are other free apps available too but I quite like the way it worked and it's very UK specific.

My Mrs also got Nutracheck in Feb which meant we were both watching what we were eating of an evening and weekend. I found it relatively easy to keep under the suggested calorie count for the day and it's a doddle to use. The habit of recording everything gets ingrained quite quickly or at least did for us. And quite good fun to compare calories to go and steps counted at the end of the day.

I'm now down to 15 stone 13.4 lb as of last week. My BMI now shows as overweight rather than obese and I'm getting into clothes that I haven't worn for years, in fact I need to go shopping for littler jeans.

The regular chub club Friday deadline works for me, recording my weight very week works for me, regular exercise works but the most successful thing for me has been dieting. Or at least changing my diet. Who knew it was just all about moving more and consuming less? I realise that everyone else in the world had already grasped that concept but really it took me to the ago of 51 for it to sink in and make sense. Biggest eye opener was weighing breakfast cereal of a morning. Who knew it was so calorific?! (I know, literally everyone else). 45g of granola looks mean (compared with the lovely big bowlful I used to enjoy, and y'know - granola's good for you and everything) but once I'd got over myself I realised that the smaller portion actually didn't make any difference to my enjoyment of it.

The other lightning bolt was that actually there wasn't much difference between good for you and bad for you food other than the fat and salt content, that it's OK to have a takeaway occasionally provided you're still under the calories for the day. No need to beat yourself up for it.

Anyway, that's my experience, hope it helps someone else.

Chrispoffer, formerly obese now at the top of the overweight section and working hard 🙂

Great work Chris really fantastic achievement!

I agree, weighing/logging your food for a few months can be a real eye opener to the high number of calories you can easily consume in a day.

I'm not calorie counting but do log weight and exercise, find it keeps me honest.

Another 0.7kg down despite very limited exercise with my various injuries, so quite happy. Be happier if I could have a run of no injuries though!

Birthday tomorrow though, so I'll have to not be too indulgent. A few nice meals over the weekend rather than full on gluttony!

I've missed quite a few weigh ins. Today I found that since I lost a couple of kg after Christmas I have hit a plateau. Back on it after Saturday (family BBQ) with a concerted effort to shift some lard.
