some amazing waves and surfing going on live now in Nazare.
cheers for that!
I'm picking up a new board tomorrow, looking forward to getting a drubbing at Woolacombe on it/with it/near it straight after.
have you seen the forecast? i'd say its a day for round the corner...
the place beginning with L? It's an option...
Edit Just checked. That's not going to work. another corner? Getting in early at Woolacombe shouldn't be too mental? head high, off shore. Massive beach to spread the crowd. Still a chunky swell, mind.
a busy option. mate of mine live close and surfs there a fair bit , said there was 100 plus in the water by 8am last weekend.
spot P might even go with that size swell.
puts would be a better option than woolacombe.
but not been up that way in a long time.
I’m picking up a new board tomorrow
What are you getting?
Bigger balls than I could ever imagine.
Did you see the film about the road trip the other night?
Guy went all over Europe including the frozen North for surf locations..
Awesome.
He also gave a local spot geographical view of Nazare, pointing out why & how it gets so big..
Seek it out, C4 IIRC.
Thanks for that, can't see me getting much work done now.
Never surfed at Woolacombe, done Puts a couple of times, generally stick to Croyde as we are staying there, and pop round to Saunton for a play occasionally, which would be a bugger of a paddle out.

that barrel!!!!
6'10 egg from Gulfstream, Mister P. Not ideal for the conditions tomorrow, but pfff. It'll be "fun" getting out!
Wife and i spent a couple of weeks in Portugal last year. 5 days up north in the hills, then down to Sintra. Looking for somewhere to stop on the way back down, and I suggested Nazare.
"What's there?" she said
"It's a really famous big wave spot, some of the biggest waves in the world" I said,
"Wow!" she said "It would be amazing to see some really big waves!"
"There won't be any waves, though", I said
"errr....?" she said.
Worth a visit even if it's flat. It's an amazing spot on the cliffs, wild coast to the north, sheltered, manicured tourist beach and bay to the south. Loads of history behind the place and the fort, and a great exhibition of art, science and some massive boards and a bit about whose they are.
I've been to Nazare a couple of times. Never to surf it though, I was much happier down the coast at Peniche thank you. Stayed in Ericera this summer, that was a proper lively little town.
final is on. wind looks like its picking up a bit..
My housemate was born round the corner and has popped back their to see this.
final was a bit of a anti-climax compared to that second semi-final. still some good rides but it just went mental for about 20mins.,
We are looking for a weeks holiday in March.
Would there be good waves, is the village of Nazare a nice place to visit. Mrs Zip will want nice restaurants.
Why don't you go to Ericeira? Not been for about a decade but a good place, some nice restaurants and if you go self catering a great fish market.
the best thing about that area (apart from the waves) is the vans with wood fired bread ovens baking chorizo bread in lay-bys, perfect after surf snack!
