Not quite sure about that peteimpreza, but giving them a 17 point start inside 15 minutes was a disaster - BOD has just said it, anytime Argentina came back into it, the defence was poor and perhaps that was when we missed POC, POM and SOB most.

True but Ireland didn't seem able to defend the Pumas' backs when they got out wide. Argentina seemed to barely kick out of hand but preferred to throw it around even when they got themselves into trouble.

Amazing really when you consider how they used to rely 100% on forward power. I think Graham Henry has possibly had a hand in that.

I think it is more that now Argentina have something decent to play for each year they have managed to keep their superstars together rather than have them come and go in favour of mostly Euro commitments and not really know what side they'd cobble together each week. Having a decent 10 finally is a huge help too despite the lack of a strong kicking game in any of the backs still. I also think the Irish team was still a very strong one despite the Irish in the pundits being down on the injuries

Good points but they had Hernandez at FH in 2007 when we was exceptional and now they have him at centre - where he's still pretty handy - so they do have kicking options but they choose not to kick the ball away to the opposition unnecessarily.

(NH teams - are you listening?)

The SH are miles ahead. The best team in the 6N (by some distance - 2 6N in a row) just lost to the 3rd best in the rugby championship and not by a little bit either. RWC semis completely SH teams? The gap is getting bigger it seems.

I'm no offendotron, but I've always thought the way arg supporters have kept decency to be one of the highlights of the rise of the Pumas. Seems a shame not to respect that

Not just Argentinian supporters, but all of rugby. Poor form, Drac.

Argentina played some blisteringly good rugby today. Almost always getting through the first tackle, driving low to avoid the choke. They knew their tactics and played them well. Ireland put up a brave fight, but the better team won.

Imhoff and Senatore were excellent.

I understand they're excited, but should there be a pitch invasion while the ball is still in play?

Agreed, aracer, don't like subs on the pitch.

What a strong start from Scotland! This wasn't in the script!

The thing that I'm loving is that people on both sides are playing with a smile on their face. It's great to see.

Is attempting to intercept going to disappear, when decisions are made like that?

What is this ref doing in this game?
He's making harsh decisions against the Scots and it keeps leading to Aussie tries

And why didn't the tmo look at the 'deliberate' knock on in real time speed because slow-mo always makes it looks worse

That's an exceptional bad call for a world cup quarter final referee.

Harsh decision.

Also think the para picture should be removed - no place for that in rugby.

I think the TMO needs to carry much of the blame for that. Joubert is not going to disagree with him over the mic and the TMO initiated the inquiry

A clear penalty against Australia at the scrum. Joubert is poor.

I'll respect joubert when he makes the right decision and hangs up his whistle.
Very inconsistent referee, turns against one side early every match

Hmmm, realtime I wouldn't have said so..... but in slowmo it looks different. The arm just stretched out but he had a little wriggle first.

What happened to protesting the kicker? Very late hit from Mitchell
One minute later penalty to aus and they win
Never cheered more for Scotland and feel they've been robbed here

Looked like a late hit on Hogg. Penalty there and the game would have been over.

The referee should never take charge of another game at that level. But let's not take that away from a tremendous performance by Scotland.

I know it's "only" sport but I'm really rather disconsolate here. Extraordinary stuff.

Hats off to the Scotland team - what a collective effort.

It would be nice, just for once, to get the break and not have the hard luck story 🙁

Late hit on Hogg plus that last penalty wasn't a penalty!

Scotland were cheated out of that.

After everything that has happened this World Cup that has seriously knocked me, the elation to complete sorrow in a few minutes at the end brought back horrible memories of Wales 4 years ago. Fully backing Argentina now to go all way.

Hats off to Scotland, nobody I guess was expecting that. The surprise of the world cup goes on and the quality of the games keeps getting better. At least rugby is the winner out of all this no matter how we all feel.

Still "dislike" Craig Joubert quite a lot

It's very sad that after a performance like that much of the talk is about the referee. He shouldn't get near another game at this or any other world cup.

Best game I've seen in a while, spoilt by some questionable decisions (both ways). Scotland stepped up in a way that neither England or Wales could, and to be honest shouldn't have lost. That was never a yellow card (and the subsequent try was scored by the opposing winger, so would probably have been tackled in a 1 on 1), and the final penalty... Not even questionable. Should have gone to the TMO, who would (should) have seen it came off an Aussie player last...

I assume the late hit on Hogg was shown on the big screen in the stadium? Thought the ref might even have gone back for that.

It's a shame that all we're talking about is the ref, after what really was a quality game.
