Thing of getting a base van and doing a camper conversion. Van is a MWB. I know nothing about vans other than it's half the price of a VW or Mercedes and not rusty. Any major pit falls? Anyone got one?

Good vans, don't rot, low floor, good on fuel. Can have engine issues.

Thanks PePPer. What engine issues do they have?

Toyota Hiace is the way to go, bullet proof reliability.

If you can get one that's part converted, even better...

APF 😉

Just egr and fuel injector problems, the other thing is the gearbox can be weak, I'd get it oil level checked and topped up if necessary.

Except that all variants of the hiace will fit in the load bay of the movano.

All vans will have their issues, as long as you do your research and buy the best Movano your budget will allow. Ensure it's mechanically ok prior to the conversion.
I'm just putting the finishing touches to my vivaro conversion.
