Spiked by the "albums you remember thread" I used to go, with some mates, to a rock club out in the sticks somewhere in Staffordshire.. We used to travel from Alsager and it took about an hour down windy lanes. Not too sure it was heading towards Stafford or maybe Crewe way, not sure now.

It was a pub but had a hall/stage behind it, used to have disco nights and rave nights too on different days, think the Rock one was Wednesdays? or could have been Saturdays (bit of a blur now)

Think Metallica, Dokken, Accept, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Def Leppard era so early 90's ?

What on earth was it's name???

😕

There was a metal club like that in Newcastle when I was at Keele, can't remember the name of that either.

Winking Man is Buxton/Leek way. Could it have been the Cheshire Cheese?

You're describing the Agincourt in Camberley (except clearly you aren't)

Was called Coconut Grove for a while, back to the Cheshire Cheese now though. Not a rock venue any more.

If not, then I'll ask one for the old rockers who comes in - he'll have played there.

Spread Eagle at Gailey Island Penkridge was also a rock/motorbike pub back then, even the Barley Mow at milford was a biker haven, but no music or stage there

Used to love the 'wayman!

Must be 20+ years since I went.

I remember there was a blond haired guy who used to turn up on his own every week in a white escort van and stand in the middle of the dance floor playing air guitar from the very first song till the last in a world of his own - a good 6-7 hours of air guitar each week, didn't seem to have any mates and always made us chuckle.
