Ah well done, you will enjoy the drive to the trails as well now!! I hate looking after wires though way to much polishing for me!!
gorgeous 18.l engine
😆

Riiiight
Nice, but i'd have gone for the V8 with the lovely bonnet bulge.
Nicer than my Pug, enjoy!
nice! always fancied one of them meself!
well son, you've got yourself one big engine.
nice!
If it breaks I'm blaming STW for convincing me to buy it.
Nice one, good find. Does look clean and tidy!
spot on alwyn!
nice, but the bumpers are a bit 'US fender' for me
Yeah, the fibre glass bit on the front will probably go.
I'd be keeping the fibreglass valance at the front. The steering on the MGB goes a little vague over 60-70mph without it. Stability at motorway speeds is drastically improved with the valance in place!
Looks a well cared for example though. Well done!
A V8? one belted past us in Hebden Bridge today- sounded like a right muscle car. Did they make V8 one?????
Not the V8, I'd love one of those. They do make a V8 one, there is on on ebay tuned to 200bhp :O
ooh, i love that damp musty old car interior smell
The V8 was originally built by Costello and it was so popular MG relented and built there own. I know of at least one running a twin turbo V8 and another with NOS and a sub 14 sec quarter mile time 🙂
Yep, they made a V8, we had a Costello with a rather large bulge on the bonnet.

Fast as F***!
Nice car BTW, enjoy it.
Sorry redwine. No I dont mean alwyns I meant did they make a V8, it sounded good the one that went past us! I must admit my lycra liner shorts almost snapped their elastic although I have been eating alot recently 🙄
The V8 was a stunning car. Beleive it or not the V8 is a lighter engine than the 1.8 four pot and had significantly more power (140bhp vs 85bhp). Cooling and packaging was always a problem though. Getting the exhaust manifolds in was tricky to say the least.

+1
In the words of Jezza "POWER, POWER, POWER".
You can not beat the sound of a good V8, the best engine rover ever made (and probley the only good one).
ah well. you're a student, right?
you'll be used to being broke and immobile.
enjoy! 🙂
As someone who can remember when MGB's were plentyful on the road I used to hate the bloody things, slow, sounded crap & hated the way they looked.Ahhhhh brings it all back.....
Should have gone for a Stag...... 😉
If it breaks I'm blaming STW for convincing me to buy it.
What do you mean, "if"?
Keep us informed on this one please, I would love to be proved wrong but I see despair, anguish, heartbreak and financial ruin in your future.
The Stag!?! - even the name sounds as camp as christmas! i love it, good purchase! i've always fancied a GT6 myself, and a cravat to go with it!
Nice one alwyn, looks neet, hope its all sound underneath for you.
Always liked the look of the MG GTB
Should have gone for a Stag...
They used to suffer from warped heads, when the HG went dure to them overheating, which they used to do quite a bit, some were converted to Rover V8 units.
Hey shoefiti - got a GT6 sitting on the drive for sale. Make me an offer!
I think he'll be ok with the B. Look after them and they can be reasonably reliable....up until the rust takes hold 😉
I wish you all the best. You crazy fool. 🙂
