Anyone any idea what the currently favoured protected 18650 batteries are nowadays?

Looking to buy a few for a Gemini Xera torch (which happens to fit beautifully into an Exposure helmet mount...).

Generally, I'll carry a pair of spares but ones with decent capacity would be great too.

Will be charged using a nifty little Xtar charger.

Thanks.

18650.co.uk (rebranded to https://www.nubattery.co.uk/) ... it now redirects but you can choose brand and protected/non etc.

I went for Panasonics after some posts on here several years ago and they are still going strong.

The challenge will be finding a genuine seller I expect.

I've just ordered one from Torchy the Battery boy.

3500mAh for £7.99 including post.

As a slight aside, is protected worth it? Panicked when i last ordered some when i realised I'd ordered unprotected but then, having checked, none of my other ones were either. Assume if you can get genuine Panasonic etc plus use a decent charger it mitigates the risk

Oh and i went with the soshine ones from  Torchy when i last bought and they have lasted well

+1

You can buy 18650 cells that are really a smaller Li-ion cell in a larger body!
