I was queuing in a shop and noticed the front cover of a magazine said "Burn 180kcal in 5 minutes". Is this possible, and if so, how can it be achieved? According to my Garmin I burn around 60+kcal in 5 minutes when I'm riding close to all-out on my turbo trainer.
Ultra-****athons.
A really vigorous w@nk can burn up to 300 calories.
Didn't stop me getting chucked out of weight-watchers though.
Should be pretty easy, just need a cake and a blowtorch.
Donate blood. Then break into the hospital and set fire to it.
Couldn't you have read the article in the queue then put the magazine back on the shelf?
I suppose if you weighed 30 stones or something and you were made to sprint flat out, you'd burn 180 kcal.
Doubtful.
If you absolutely blitzed it for 5 minutes then the residual recovery would very probably burn of 180kcals over the next number of hours. Not sure if that's what they're on about.

That must explain why I'm hungry all the time!
Also explains why I often get called 'w@nker'. Must be to do with my gaunt looks.
i guess its possible, I burn 100 or so in 10 mins of running on a treadmill quite slowly, and I'm quite heavy. In theory if i ran 3 and a bit times faster (than level eight) then i'd manage it? Level 25 maybe? So full on olympic sprint for 5 mins?
I expect the article will involve doing a HIT workout having eaten some metabolism boosting food and following a heavy lifting regime so your body is still burning calories, and as such the 180 is an average rather than a measured reality. Save £4, Do hard lifting session in the morning, eat chillis for lunch then do sprints interspersed with burpees for 5 mins. Now buy an expensive watch.

Or increase the gradient a bit.
