My lad starts at uni next week and is only 17. He needs some, er, dodgy ID to enable him to 'socialise'. An y recommendations from those I trust most? 😉

student uni card will be his best bet as they wont care re DOB
all the age ID stuff ask for proper ID to get the card.
Assuming he has a non local accent they will assume he is a student anyway and not ask IME.
PS must be posh if drug dealers ask for ID 😉

I was only 17 when I went to uni. granted it was nearly 30 years ago & things are stricter now, but I was never challenged in any of the uni bars. The thinking is (or was then), "you're at uni, you're over 18, right?"

But "socialising" doesn't necessarily mean "boozing" anyway

I was baby faced and always had trouble getting served. But do you want your 17 year old getting hammered all the time ? If he can't sort his own fake ID out, then he's not old enough to drink 😉

i used to work at plymouth student union. All the underage students had it stamped in large red letters all over their ID card...

Jam bo - not the "Sporting and Honking Bar"? Formerly known as the Nelson Mandela Bar.

Wasn't a problem at all when I was here as a student but we're using a wristband system this year, no ID = no wristband, no wristband = no drink. Harsh. OTOH, anyone who can't get round it probably shouldn't have been admitted in the first place.

Everywhere in Edinburgh asks for proof of age - student ID doesn't cut it. Still, it's nice being asked for ID when you're 31 😉
