Just noticed that the Invisible Man is on Amazon for 15.99. I know it’s still on at the cinemas but still quite high for a home movie.
Might be a trend given the current climate.
Yep, a lot of studios are releasing on streaming platforms due to cinemas closing.
£15.99 for a 48 hour rental! Would be cheaper going to the cinema, unless you have a few people around to watch.
I might pay £15 for a DVD or a download that I can watch repeatedly, but not just to rent.

Or you had a family or even just a partner.
It's a great film, watched it last night!
(Didn't pay that for it...)

How much are you paying for a cinema ticket? Often £5 per ticket, so still cheaper for 2 or 3 of you.

Where’s that 1995?
Two for £8 at odeon here or £4.99 each at the big vue.
No way I’d pay more than a fiver to rent a film. I did watch joker the other night for £4.99 and I won’t be doing that again soon!
£5 stalls, £5.50 circle in our local Marple cinema Drac. Even the big Odeon in the centre of Manchester was only £5-comething last time I though about going. Having said that the two cinemas in Stockport charge £9.50 and £11 each as standard
Even going midweek I’ve never seen it £5 here, that’s a great price?
Printworks in central Mcr is £5 every ticket.
£3 for Silver Screen, including tea and biscuits!
Of course we're all overlooking that going to an actual cinema isn't currently an option, and the opportunistic pricing of some films might be reflecting that fact and that the film's only managed a much shorter than planned big screen release. I noticed Emma. is out to stream, I think that was only released a couple of weeks ago.
Our local small town cinema charges £12.00 plus a booking fee per seat !!!
Its 15/16 miles to the next town , £15 to watch the latest movie isn't to bad .

Except it's closed.
Yeah I posted about this.
As a cinema goer I welcome this but £15.99 is too much
We can go to the local cinema for half this on Tuesday/Wednesdays. It's profiteering.
I would happily pay the normal fee of £10-13.00 to own it.
It's a great idea but stop being greedy. And I say this a production professional too.
Expensive and a rental is not the way to go.
There is going to be a pretty big gap in film and tv production , so I guess they are going to need to make as much money as they can out of it.
The film studios in and around London are closing / have closed.
Production stopped us on Thursday working on a TV series, everyone sent away until at least May. Just finished our work on a major film (thankfully been fully paid) , and the next one which we are due to start on Thursday is in jeopardy.
Just glad it’s been a crazy busy year that should see me through the hard times ahead.
It’s profiteering.
It’s really not though. It’s a higher rental price for a just released film.
That said I’m not paying that much I’d consider £10
Well I reckon it is, and I'm far from tight. I spend lots on streams, rentals and purchases of film content.
It's way above market prices
Rentals are five quid.
And the fact you won't pay it demonstrates my point.
Both these films have already had a cinema release by the way.
It's a mark up of over 3 times.
Don't forget they don't have the same distribution costs in the home.
Having said all this I really want to the Invisible Man...
Forgive me if I cave.

I don’t bother with rentals at all TBH but it a new cinema release was around £10 I would consider it.
Both these films have already had a cinema release by the way.
A short one.
Perceptions of value are relative aren't they...
TBH I seldom rent anything that's more than £3.50, seeing as most films come down to that price sooner or later. So I just tend not to rent newer releases when they're not long out.
Paying multiplex (or higher) prices to watch it on my telly at home somehow feels 'wrong' but I get why prices are up at the moment. There's enough "free" content included with prime and netflix that I don't really feel the need to rent much.
But if you're renting a film for full whack it's probably because you have a whole family to entertain rather than just a single viewer, in which case it's still probably better VFM than a trip to the cinema would ever be.
Would be cheaper going to the cinema
Someone really doesn’t get it.
People have to stay away from the Cinema.
Studios have movies that need to be released via streaming services to make up for that.
The price is for an at home ‘cinema release’ rather than the usual later home release of stuff that was at the cinema a while back.
Oh…
STAY AT HOME

I bet you £15.99 you can't
I feel slightly vindicated as the early releases are now all £4.49 on Amazon.
Okay. They definitely weren't taking advantage ... Strange isn't it.
I bet you £15.99 you can’t
You're betting me I can't?
It was £7.60 for two of us on Tuesday / Wednesday nights. So even if you paid full prices - it's still less.
The point is it wasn't just a a few quid more. It was triple.
Enjoyed The Invisible Man it's surprisingly fresh for something you've probably seen before.
We're torn between watching The Gentleman tonight, or keeping it for the weekend, whatever day it is...
Enjoyed Knives Out. Worth a viewing.
Bloodshot for me tonight.
Is there a quick path to these 'new releases' on amazon, if I go to the new releases I end up with all sorts of crap as well as a few movies, not including the invisible man?
Often £5 per ticket, so still cheaper for 2 or 3 of you.
Where’s that 1995?
Yeah, £5 a ticket here in Swansea at both Odeon and Vue.
Nowhere in Cardiff city centre charges more than £5 a ticket these days. Since a Premiere opened up @ £4, they've all dropped their prices to compete.
You even get student discount & Meerkat discounts on top.
I feel slightly vindicated as the early releases are now all £4.49 on Amazon.
Nah, their last week’s early releases now.
= ;87)
Joking. It’s a good move.
16 quid for something invisible? Sounds like emperors new clothes!
