Want to take my boys to the cinema, only thing on they’ve not seen is avatar2. It’s a 12a, sensible to take them or not. They’ve watched some Star Wars at home, but tbh were more bored of it than scared….will cinema let us in as it’s an 12a?

You know your little humans best so couldn't comment on the 'sensible' question.

As for being younger than the certification, it's allowed as they'll be accompanied by you, you then own the impact if any from the viewing not the cinema.

Look at BBFC and you can make your own judgement on what your kids are happy with and what you want them to see.

Films classified 12A ... contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Adults planning to take a child under 12 to view a 12A film should consider whether the film is suitable for that child. To help them decide, we recommend that they check the Ratings Info for that film in advance.

have you watched the film? my question is more relating to the film any scary bits in it? see I wouldn't take them to Harry Potter because that does have some scary bits in it

FWIW I always have a look at common sense media ratings which will give an idea of content and level of swearing and then make a call from there. My level of acceptable is definitely different to my wife’s though.

Personally more bothered by excessive swearing than violence. Pisses me off a bit that they seem to go out of their way to shoehorn in a random unnecessary f-bomb. But that’s just me.
