If you put your details on LinkedIn, a company like 118118 may find them and call you, to ask if you'd like you business details listed.
My advice to you is HELL NO.
My personal phone number, email address, postal address and full name is now spaffed all over the internet, there's no way to remove it from all the databases. I get calls and emails 24x7 trying to flog me stuff.
They made no mention of selling the details, or passing them on. I was distracted when I got the call, and thought, "Oh well, I suppose there's a small chance I'll get a little simple work through IF SOMEONE CALLS THIS 118 NUMBER AND ASKS FOR LOCAL DESIGNERS....."
No.
So remember kids - if the service is free, you're the product.

The flood of spam is going to force me to abandon my email address and phone number, I got 3 virus-linked emails this morning alone, all of which got through Gmail's spam filer.

Further down the rabbit hole - now I am getting calls to my home telephone number from "DHL" quoting a valid parcel number was waiting for and saying I need to pay money to receive it [parcel turned up, wasn't true]
And weirdest of all from child support services saying they spoke to me on the phone and I was due to make a donation of £190-900 and could I confirm.
This is getting too weird. Checked my bank accounts, they seem OK...
