Hard to know what is an injury, and what is just a consequence of increasing decrepitude 😉

Sore elbow tho. Had it over a year. Originally brought on my 'extreme painting' of our big shed. Pain comes and goes depending on how much physio I do. Other than that, clicky right knee, sore left knee, sore-ish shoulder after recent collarbone break. Otherwise in fine shape as evidenced by having to nearly eat cereal by lying face down in the bowl this morning 😉

That was a tough gym session on the arms.

I like to think that using Yoga & Pilates as "filler" exercises keep the injuries at bay. That was yesterday's, today have an evening bouldering session planned.

@jimmy - that's a very good point. I find those 15 min ones I posted earlier very easy to fit into my day. 30 mins sometimes breaches the 'can't be bothered' line, but half that is easily doable especially with so many different routines.

Going back to the Gym for me is mostly about not getting injured again. I definitely need to work all the non cycling muscles and get a bit of flexibility back. I'm also from the kind of old school thinking that if it's hurting, it's probably working!

Haha, I know that feeling. I aim for 45 minutes so I'm not doing bare minimum. Sometimes I'm watching the clock for my 30min exit point though!

Catch up, been a manically busy work/business/family week and failed on Tuesday but back on track with ebike, gym, bike commute and a 5k pissed run home from the station in the pouring rain last night after a rare night in the pub

Hard yards the last couple of days. Got this cold thats been going around and should probably gice myself a break.

Instead if that yesterday's yoga turned into a kettlebell workout and what was supposed to be 30 mins of zone2 on the turbo turned into an hour at the bmx track between the stormy bits.

Shagged now and need a lie down

I had a bit of travelling on  Friday but squeezed in a 1 hour VO2 Max session on the turbo when I got home.

This morning was a 30 minute bodyweight session and then I was out running later, taking advantage of a slight lessening in the wind and rain, scouting out a route for Mondays club run - just making sure no trees were down.

yep my knee is very delicate, cycling is fine  but running and skateboarding aggravate it, i know running is much better for cardio  but skateboarding is infinitely more fun, so i run occasionally but skateboard much more- did a Friday lunchtime skate at a skatepark nearish to work - covered one as it was raining

Swim-gym class x 2-MTB ride-gym-class x 2-Swim, Run, MTB ride.

That'll do me for this week. Feeling pretty weary but good to mix up the exercises and feel like I've done something worthwhile every day. Roll on next week.

A damp trail run today, avoiding some of the new obstacles that Amy has delivered.

The end of a week of trail running, badminton, weights and Zwift. I'm also trying keep a mix of things going, hopefully that'll reduce the risk of injury and over training. PXL_20251005_132031494.MP.jpgPXL_20251005_125255610.MP.jpg

A busy day with family stuff, and on the back of a very sociable late night with neighbours in for food and wine, and more wine…

I scraped through with a 40 minute Z2 ERG Zwift session…

A couple of hours riding round Rothiemurchus and Glenmore this aftrernoon, checking for fallen trees and so on. It's reaching that time of year when you can be out while the sun is dropping behind the hills and still be back in home for dinner. Lovely!

I've not failed today, but it feels like it. Dogsitting for a neighbour so was out early this morning for a walk, and a short one at lunch. Feeling weary so didn't do anything else, probably best just to call it a day and take the rest.

I've missed 3 days, but - I do try and make up for it a bit on other days and it's still keeping me motivated to see it through.

Certainly not doing big numbers compared to some, but over 21 days my mean average is 58 minutes/day - actual moving time and that's generally proper exercise.

Weights and yoga in the gym earlier then the Monday club run. Stupidly warm for an October evening and the torrential rain of Saturday has all but drained.

Been a few days since I've updated on here, but am doing a ride or run most days. The only day I've been a bit flaky was Saturday where I only managed 2 dog-walking potters.

9km trail run yesterday evening ...

PXL_20251006_170820093.jpg

And 20km extended commute this morning ...

Good effort all.

Had a lazy day yesterday- decided extra dog walk really didn't count so just got over the line with 2x15 YT YogaLates.

Back on it today, Spin into Bootcamp. 1hr30 of near death cardio experience.

Swim and a ride tomorrow.

I was a bit lax yesterday and only managed a short weights session between batches of apple chutney making.

Made up for it today with a old-school XC trip over the Burma Road. Bloody windy higher up, but still quite mild.

Swim and a ride. Both excellent. Think I'll bin the two gym sessions off tomorrow to do the same again. Not sure trail conditions will be this good until about April next year!

Away this weekend. So going for very early run/Zwift saturday and something when we get back Sunday.

Half an hour walk yesterday - was knackered.

Was going to take it easy today and then Reeksy1 broke his hanger last night and I discovered the wholesaler of said hangers is 5 mins drive from my favourite trails... so that meant I had to go for a ride and then go and pick up hangers before they opened for business.

I'm still plugging along. Doing a combination of bodyweight exercises, skating and walks right now.

Previous years I've gone too hard at the start and lost enthusiasm. This week I've also included walking up and down hotel stairs because it was late and I didn't fancy a walk outside in a neighborhood I didn't know.

Pictures not working I guess

No idea if either of those will work!

Not quite 40 lengths in 40 mins (using a stroke I'm probably previously described as "old dog fallen into a canal and is now desperately trying to get out) but getting closer.

Third ride in four days. With a couple of gym sessions in between. Legs quite weary. Good fun tho and I can feel some pre-injury fitness creeping slowly back. Run today I think and then need to manage sat/sun being away and busy.

I'm having another crack this year having skipped last year, managed a bike ride everyday bar one so far, when I went for a walk round the local woods. I'm also trying to do a bike ride everyday in October, which I'm not sure I'll do.

Seriously, this cold has been hanging around for over a week now and has hit the same time as our return to the office 3 days a week. The commute has been alright but was knackered on last nights MTB ride.

I'm racing on saturday so should really take it easy today so will just have to do some yoga or something later. Although if its not raining, might be a trip to the pump track with the kiddo if he's up for it.

Have been plodding through, good to hear everyone is getting out & hope those with lurgy recover quickly.

The last week has been somewhat easier to do the 30 minutes each day as I have been away with Endless Trails on their Lake to Lake trip, many thanks to Julia & Graham.

6 days of definitely very techy riding from Garda to Como, beautiful scenery, great company, excellent coffee & pizza and we had amazing weather.

I've had a migraine the past couple of days which has knocked me a bit. I squeezed in an hour of yoga yesterday, partly just to make sure I was getting some stretches in. Today I strapped on my "road" running shoes and tried to get a "fast" 10km in, just to see how I might get on at an event next weekend. Let's just say I'll be happy to get round in anything less than the 52 minutes it took me last year 😂

I’m doing the October Prostate Cancer challenge - trying to get a 6km run every day, which has been a bit more of a challenge as all my running is off-road and we’ve had many trees felled by Storm Amy so getting some extra obstacles to negotiate. Needed some extras in the bank due to an all-day hospital checkup tomorrow so took the kayak out across and up the sound. Lovely once the mist lifted.

I’m doing the October Prostate Cancer challenge - trying to get a 6km run every day,

I did a similar thing last December and ended up with some injuries. I don't think it was the total amount of running over the month that did it, I think it was not having any days off. Mind you, it might have helped if I'd not still been doing some longer runs too.

Missed a few days last week due to illness so annoyed about that. Managed to complete the Hadrian's Wall half marathon today as a walking entry, due to injury and completely non-existent training for most of this year. Ran it last year, walked it this year, maybe a running attempt again next year 🤔 Well done everyone for sticking in so far. 👏🏻
