I feel I'm cheating as it's dog walks but it's his last few days and a reprise of his favourite local wanders.

Still on track, but might have to resort to a walk tomorrow as i'll be out in town on the tram with no way of getting near a bike all day.  I'm not bloody running.

Had a good few laps of the pump track at lunch today and commuted by bike yesterday. Just totted up how far i go by bike just pottering about, 13km today, all of that either on a sit up and beg shopper or a 20" bmx

Day 10: dawn mtb ride. Legs a bit sore from squats yesterday so went slow and took some more techy options - very rocky. Bust a spoke.

Currently in the Medips so walking a lot. Shortest walk was 12km, longest 17km and today is a loop up to Crook Peak which should be about 20km.....

Might have a pub lunch afterwards if we make it down in time

Going okay here. Good to be mixing lots of MTBing with swimming, running and an attempt to get through all Yoga with Kassandra's new "Yogalatis" series. 15 mins each, so when I haven't done any recordable cardio (ie outside of standard dog walking etc), 2 of those back to back is a good way to log 30 mins.

Yoga with Kassandra's new "Yogalatis" series. 15 mins each

Sounds interesting, the wife and I have been looking for a new pilates/yoga thing to do together on a Monday evening, that could be ideal.

As for the challenge I'm still in - Monday weights, Tuesday running, yesterday making the most of the last few days of the year I can ride my road bike in summer gear after work. Run later today.

No.1:

- I'm still a bit behind so haven't caught up with the latest ones yet, but there's enough variety to keep them interesting.

I too found the new Kassandra series - albeit only yesterday. Going to do the morning and evening ones I think, certainly feel better sitting down to work after day two today.

Ran yesterday, a local trail loop in lieu of missing out on Wednesday night hill running (went to this - Big Bike Film Night - Scotland - Big Bike Film Night )

Will be Yoga-lates today. Been doing it regularly for a few weeks now and think my pre-50 six pack is starting to emerge!

For all variations of Yoga & Pilates with added HIIT options, I heartily recommend this app: Down Dog | Great Yoga Anywhere

MTB commutes today, both extended, just over an hour done each way (most direct route is 22 mins)

So, that's 10% done everyone - keep up the good work!

NWD for me tomorrow, was planning an epic ride in the Peak, but think I'm brewing for a bug, so that might not happen ...

I had a short week away with my family then I did my back in so have not done nearly as much as I hoped.  However this has given me extra motivation to get out and about and I have had at least an hour outside every day

So far this week I've been doing the body weight leg burners. Which have hurt quite a lot! I haven't started the leaping lunge part yet. I had a 45 min dance because I felt like doing something different. And a rainy walk around a park in KC.

Finding new ways of torturing myself today, with a shuttle running session. Only 8.5km but full of extended sprints. Everything is a bit tight now 😂

Today's weigh-in shows I've lost a bit though, so all good and only 500g over my target weight.

Yesterday, was meant to do a big 60-70km MTB ride in the Peak, but have come down with some form nausea/achy bug and just didn't have it in me. Thought I felt a bit better around lunchtime, so headed up to Stainburn for a few laps, nice to be out but felt rough.

PXL_20250926_103418108.jpgPXL_20250926_112625760.jpg

Today, still feeling less than optimal, and life has rather got in the way, so will have to settle for the half hour dog walk after lunch.

I think I remember this from last time but I'm feeling tired. Today was just a walk, a nice walk with the family to a point of interest from a recent cubs meeting (where the north and south Esk rivers meet).

100k audax today. Except they keep moving the start each year, so its now 110. And I rode to and from, so ended up at 140k.

Tomorrow's exercise is likely to be moving a Skoda Octavia full of "stuff" into LittleMissMC  student accommodation

Not sure if it was that double session at the Gym or yesterday lunchtime' wine tasting followed by by "Pudding by Pub" but my legs were just hollow vessels of uselessness today. Started off weak and went downhill from there.

1100m of climbing and 50km later Strava was very impressed with my ride. My body tho is pretty much ready for a lie down in a dark room for a day or two. I'm sure the last 10km was actually measured at 350 miles 😉

Still great day for a ride and only my second "proper" all day ride since splattering myself in May. I'm really hoping it's going to get easier.

Tomorrow will be something non cardio 🙂

Bit of a lazy start to the day (well, it is Sunday) but managed an hour in the gym, then out for a walk with Mrs S (she's been doing a 1 mile/day thing during September in aid of Cancer Research).

Lochan Mor - otherwise known as the Lily Loch.

PXL_20250928_135526156.jpg

Any fungus experts like to tell me what this is?

PXL_20250928_134208352.jpg

Rounded it off with a bit of Tacx turbo before dinner, just to get the cardio up.

Back up a mountain for the first time since I did an ultra at the beginning of the month - really grim weather for it with rain, wind and sleet. But it was my running club's annual race, and I'd volunteered to help out. An hour standing around at 2000m, reading runner's chips, then another 20+km as one half of the broom wagon. Final total was about 27km, and 1800m climbing. A decent workout 🙂

Garmin: your body battery is quite low, your HRV has been dropping this week and recovery time from yesterdays ride was 48 hours.

Also Garmin: Recommended workout for today, 2 hour ride.

I'll be doing something, but not that!

I find Recovery rides easier on the turbo. I can maintain a consistent (low) HR without interference from climbs and traffic. Two hours of that is a bit much though.

Yeah. Agreed on turbo and that was my plan (but hour max). However just had a meeting cancellation so think I can squeeze in a lunchtime swim instead. Really trying to do lots of different exercises rather than 80% cycling and 20% running.

On that note, back to "bootcamp" at the Gym tomorrow. That's going to hurt.

Ah the old arboreal shrapnel. I was under fire from wind assisted acorns in the forest on Sunday. Like hailstones that have been to the gym!

Talking of the Gym, one hour, 5 rounds of HIIT with 4 exercises in each followed by some core stuff that seemed to be around 1000 situps. To go with about a million squats earlier.

100% dead. I expect tomorrow will be difficult 😉

Just when you think you have a free run at something, with no lengthy business travels, along comes a family drama!

I fell off the wagon for 6 days trying to sort out the above, but now back into exercising.

So, I’ve failed the challenge again but now tagging along for the ride.

Monday - football training with 40 mins playing with the U16s.

Tuesday - 1 hour in the gym. A fair chunk of cardio (rowing, running to test my bad knee).

Some challenges last few days with crappy weather, and bathroom fitters in, and me on dog duties. Had to use last resort of lunchtime dog walk yesterday, and today will be split between a brief wander round the loch with wife and dog in the rain and hopefully an early evening Zwift.

Only managed a walk yesterday. Tiredness and lethargy aplenty.

Was feeling the same today and did a 20min workout at lunch which has improved things dramatically. As always, there's a balance between too much (fatigue) / not enough (lethargy).

The workout was from this guy, whose stuff is filling my SM feeds just now, but I like it. Good mix of strength and mobility.

DOMS hasn't kicked in yet. Expect that'll be tomorrow's present 😉

Off riding later, lovely conditions but properly dark now.

I noticed my Zwift subs are due in a month. Now I'm at the Gym at least two nights a week plus riding, swimming and running (still outside at the moment), I might not bother. I really feel done with the Turbo and I can amuse myself with YT on our treadmill. Only tend to do 30 min workouts and I've done enough not to be guided by Zwift.

Two classes in the Gym. I can no longer feel my arms and my slightly twinge-y stomach muscle that hates burpees is definitely twinge-y. Going from zero classes to 4 a week might have been a bit ambitious.

Easy swim tomorrow I think following by some "liver training" in the pub!
