Decent (road) bike ride this morning, 90km with about a 1000m+. No photos though. Run tomorrow.
Another Zwift ride today plus a bit of chasing my nephew round his local street on a scooter this morning. Properly knackering chasing an 8 year old with seemingly boundless energy 😳
25km - playing with the drone again today.
Caught some of the overnight snowfall on the mountains.

Fun run with mates this morning up a local mountain. We were supposedly following a GPS track, and we'd done the route before. Still managed to get lost 🙂

Day 31, one full month and not a day missed yet.
Todays effort swim, 2.64 km swim in 58 minutes. Bit slower today, bloody neck shoulder strain from a day or so ago.
Need more rest, as I’m starting to feel bloody knackered now.
A bit of a different one today, a walk round Burrington Combe for 5 hours covering just over 4 miles (Strava only logged 3.4 due to GPS errors and bits being only a short distance horizontally but a lot vertically) but rather than just a walk it was a Trail Truck walk touring a few different bits to do a bit of crawling!

A decent workout going up and down paths, rock outcrops and the like. Good fun while getting some fresh air and exercise. Normally a crawl involves staying in one spot so doing the distance was new and rather good fun.
Need more rest, as I’m starting to feel bloody knackered now.
From experience, it’s very important to listen to your body and if you’re fatigued you must take measures to combat this if you’ve any chance of making 100 days. The only way I can achieve this is to have two days focused on recovery each week.
I might do half hour yoga and another half hour or so using the foam roller to iron out any niggles or massage sore muscles. Another day I might take the dogs for an extended walk or go for a gentle ride with the wife.
Don’t feel bad having an easy day, remember you only signed up for doing 30 minutes extra each day.
Day 31 - couple of slightly more difficult homeworkout app sessions, felt like I did a million press-ups in the first one and then core workout on the second.
Mrs DJ has been out of action with a ruptured Achilles since early June, so it was great to have her along for some of today’s wander up Ben Venue.
Yup,damaged achilles here to.Couple of half hour achilles workouts on YouTube are good for a recovery day.Might need to do that tomorrow.Anyway, today was 90 minute hike about and 75 minutes at the outdoor gym.
Day 31. One month gone!
I'd planned a deecent bike ride today but the weather didn't look to be playing ball so I ended up with my longest ever Zwift ride - 85km in 2h45m. That's definitely tougher on my body than real riding so I had another half hour of yoga this evening to stretch everything out a bit.
Has the OP Houns dropped out?Not much input from him.
This cold's dragged on a bit! Will tot up but have definitely missed three or four days over the last fortnight, but I'll do them when we get to Christmas to catch up. 🙂 A gentle outing with the nephews at Hicks Lodge yesterday, beautiful weather and it just felt GREAT to be out on the bike again. Still a little coughy and sniffy this morning, but I think I can start gently getting back into it. 🙂
Day 32, turbo session - wahoo systm app - 27.5 km in 60 minutes. Had to wait until midday to do this, as was just too knackered to do this early doors.
Can't wait to get out side on a bike, suspect it'll be damn cold when I can.
Day 32. On hour in the (home) gym doing weights, cardio and a few yoga stretches. Seems a bit "minimal" but probably better for me to vary it a bit rather than an hour running, riding or Zwifting.
Missed Saturday - busy with kids parties etc
2*1hr walls Sunday, 3 hours fly fishing (counting this as mindful recovery gubbins rather than exercise obviously but was lovely to be out and got a couple of stonkers too!)
7k trail run today
Weights tomorrow
A long road ride on Sunday, saw my first Hen Harrier of the winter. Followed by two recovery days.
Back out on the road ride after work for an hour tonight, making the most of a beautiful evening. Still not feeling 100% but definitely needed those easy days.
Struggled today. Original plan was to go to Llandegla and spend the day there doing a few laps with cafe stops but I really struggled to sleep after doing a Zwift race Monday evening so didn't go. Took a bit of effort to get the enthusiasm to go for a walk round Tredgar House Park on the way back from a shopping expedition to the local model shop but once out glad I did. Lovely weather and surprisingly calm and chilled considering there's the M4 a few hundred yards north and a main route into Newport the same to the south.

Was going to go to Llandegla tomorrow instead but just seen the weather forecast, might go Thursday instead.
Day 33, light day today as too bloody tired to do exercise, the walk counts as far as I’m concerned as I didn’t need to walk and didn’t want to walk.
40 min walk 3.5 km.
Loop out from edale today. It got unexpectedly warm.

Day 32 - forgot to update. Did around an hour's mooching around in the evening, taking the very long way around to go to the shop. Body still aching from the skatepark on Thursday.
Day 33 - less aching. Around 45 mins swimming, still terrible but actually feeling better and did a couple more lengths than previous, also no cramp was nice.
Day 33. 1/3rd of the way through the challenge.
Morning was another brief swim - in a fabulous Autumnal Loch Morlich (8.5c) followed up by early lunch at the Pine Marten.

Awesome pics scotroutes.
Still on course here including getting up at dawn on the last day of our holiday to fit a run in before our flight home. Since being back have had a Zwift race and yesterday a lovely autumnal MTB ride.
some great pics above @scotroutes @AndrewL You guys live in some lovely locations.
Day 34, turbo session using wahoo systm app, just under 28 km in 60 minutes.
Yesterday was also Wahoo systm, did one of their Portugal "On location" rides. Tough ride, but makes me want to visit Lisbon and the area again, haven't been for years.
Well, I obviously had to get back from my forest camp this morning...
While I was out shooting the stars...

Yesterday was also Wahoo systm, did one of their Portugal “On location” rides. Tough ride, but makes me want to visit Lisbon and the area again, haven’t been for years.
How hard are those on-location rides?
I'm still getting back up to fitness and if I want to complete the 100 days I've got to be a little mindful to not overdo it, though 100 days with no proper rest day is probably already overdoing it.
Lunch run, possible climbing wall later, more "on it" this week than any previous.
How hard are those on-location rides?
Check out the ride profile before you start - they all differ a bit on what they focus on, some have more of the short/hard efforts, others are more like a long climb. And of course the duration varies too. So depending on how I'm feeling (and what I've been doing recently) one ride might be easier (or at least more appealing) than another, but the next week it could be the other way round. And of course they're all calibrated to your 4DP values so (at least in theory) they should be exactly the right amount of hard 🙂
Well worth doing some of them - I like Mike Cotty's commentating (encouraging but without going full on American spinning class instructor), the scenery's lovely, and the workouts themselves seem well thought out.
... saw my first Hen Harrier of the winter. Followed by two recovery days.
Holy cow - I hope I don't see any, if that's what it does to you! 🙂
Lunchtime reservoir stroll on Monday, unexpected cycle to work yesterday when the bus no-showed, first run plus strength stuff in a fortnight today. I think we're back in business. 🙂
Mind you, flu jab tomorrow -fingers crossed...
I've managed six days out of the last week following round 2 of chemotherapy. Just local walks but I have managed to increase the distance each day. Managed a full 10km today! I might have used pie shops to encourage me however.
Hoping to get the new e-bike up and ready over the next couple of days and then, inspired by @scotroutes' pictures, I might even try a ride with a little camp out somewhere. Got to have some goals 🙂
Day 34 - few niggly sore things so a chilled walk whilst the boy was at footy training. Life will be mostly more walking over the next few days plus a gig on Friday evening will keep me very active.
Bike ride planned for Sunday. Feeling better overall, week off next week may be something to do with that though.
yesterday was tough, drove to ju jitsu to find it cancelled, somehow found the motivation to go back home and grab gym kit
today has been a funeral, so probably do me good to get out on the bike for a few miles.
Someone once suggested that we only have one decent day of weather up here and that I take all my photos that day, posting them as if it was multiple days. Just to help set the record straight...
Today was another swim trip. Train from Tulloch to Corrour, walk to Loch Ossian, short swim, walk back to the station for lunch then the return train trip to Tulloch.
As we stepped off the train at Corrour, the rain was blown in and we had a soggy walk to the YH.

Fab day though!
Looks like a cracking day out @scotroutes
Day 35, carrying a slight shoulder injury so no swim today. Turbo session Wahoo systm app, 27.7 km in 60 minutes.
Days 33 and 34 I only managed a couple of sessions with the resistance bands. That being said my shoulder where I tore a ligament in the summer has been giving me some grief, was much better after those. So think I'll start doing them in my lunch break.
Day 35 was a 6 mile run to get some teabags. Managed to miss the train as well.
Day 35 - short homeworkout app jobbie, I maintain the line of doing something is better than doing nothing 😃
Amen to that, only managed a short walk yesterday as was busy with kids, swimming, dentist, shopping, work etc. And then found outvia a call from Mrs S during the big shop at 9:00pm that the kids had nits. By the time we had decontaminated everyone and everything it was 1 am. FML. So am knackered today. Still a huge pile of washing to get through too.
Will get a run in at lunchtime though
Day 36, swim today 2.3 km in 49 minutes, went well actually.
Other than the tedious, but helpful physio exercises that’s me done for today. Over a third the way through, but it’s starting to feel like there’s a long way to go….
10km run this afternoon. Not speedy, just steady.
Yeah, just over 1/3rd of the way through and Xmas seems a long way off!
That was a quick recovery from your ankle injury scotroutes.
Two weeks since my last run. That sort of gap seems to keep away the injury but it's frustrating not being able to get out more often. I've a longer run/event in mind for next year so need to be able to build up the distance.
Yup,I have a damaged achilles tendon which I'm babying through this challenge.Never was a good runner mind.Fine on a bike like, what about your ankle?
I can cycle without it affecting my ankle at all. That's great as it lets me maintain cardio fitness.
I have two issues with my ankle/leg. The first is on the inside of my left shin, where the soleus joins. This manifests as a dull ache after significant use (like a longer run). The physio tried some acupuncture on that which seems to have been mildly effective but it's this that I'm trying to avoid exacerbating buy running less often.
The second issue is much more intermittent and feels almost like a trapped nerve. It can happen, I'll be in extreme discomfort, I can walk it off and it'll all be fine for a while. The closest I can call it, looking at an anatomy chart, would be the inferior extensor retinaculum (sounds like a Harry Potter spell!). Reading up on pain in this area suggests it could be caused by lacing shoes too tight or a poor shoe fit in that area. I'll be looking in to that.
Mine tends to be a bit more problematic in cold weather. Are there any good youtube videos to help you with your issues?Found some very useful ones for my achilles.
Day 36 - a fair bit of shuffling around Sheffield between shops and bars, plus a gig involving a lot of jumping around.
Day - 37 will bit a fair bit more shuffling around but in Manchester. No actual exercise but I'll be on my feet most of the day so counting it as activity.
Day 35 was a day at Llandegla, good fun and a serious workout for me. Managed two laps at a decent pace which was surprising, these small workouts are definitely making a difference.
Day 36 was another fail though. Family stuff just got in the way so by the time I got back home it was midnight, no time left to do anything. That's 5 days missed so far, annoying but not bad.
Beautiful October day at the East Coast. One hour hike, followed by 80 minutes at the outdoor gym.Chippy here I come.Must remember to eat plenty to keep going.
Day 37, turbo session using wahoo systm app, 28 km in 60 minutes. Constant power at 170 watts was tougher than I was expecting, may have to revisit my plan to increase wattage over the 100 days. Bugger.
Still not missed a day, but fek it’s getting tough to resist the temptation to have a complete do absolutely nothing rest day.
Two dog walks and walking to town and back. Unfortunately the dog got spooked on the evening walk by a firework, so decided to bolt and run the last mile home on his own. By some miracle he didn't get hit by a car.
So no specific exercise tonight. Probably running for the next few days as rain is forecast and riding in the wet and having to clean the bike hacks me off.
42km gravelling with the local cycle club. Lovely Autumn day after morning mizzle. So nice we had a cake break in Kincraig and than had to sit outside the Old Bridge Inn afterwards and entertain a couple of beers.

Day 38, swim 2.64 km in 60 minutes, not too bad - felt slow, but according to garmin it wasn’t that slow.
Nothing planned for the rest of the day, as it’s chucking it down here. With more rain forecast. Oh and I’m knackered.
Am wondering if I manage to complete the 100 days, what physical / training benefits there would be in repeating this - after a week or so complete break in the new year?
Great pics @scotroutes, looks like a great ride out.
Floundering a bit recently so only managed some brisk walks.
@scotroutes regarding your shin issue, have you tried kneeling down with the tops of your feet facing the floor? Sit back on your heels and it gently stretches the shin area. I suffer badly from shin splints but this stretch was suggested to me on the running thread and it works wonders so might help with your issue.
Fun run yesterday, 24km up and around a local hill. Part of it suffered a forest fire in summer 🙁

And a long walk this morning, and proof that @scotroutes isn't the only nutter that swims at this time of year:

@jodafett - thanks for the suggestion. I actually incorporate Child Pose in my normal yoga routine which includes that stretch. I might try extending duration a little.
Bit of a lazy day today. I took the drone out for some flying practice.
Day 38 - still worn out by previous day's mooching/jumping/drinking/eating. So a gentle walk up the hill for a couple of hours was enough.
Week off with the kids this week, trying to get them involved in something too. That won't be easy!
Nice photos mogrim. Keep going everybody. 💪
Unsurprisingly I topped the group in time, distance and elevation last week as I was on holiday.
Normal service to be resumed this week as back in rainy cold blighty.
Still maintaining the streak even if I am counting 30 minutes powerwalking around the airport as one of my activities. Better than sitting in spoons I suppose.
^We've all done plenty of that.I could really do with two weeks on a foreign beach.I,m sure it would be very energising.
Day 39, swim 2.24 km in 50 minutes. Weight down by 4.5 kg since starting this, which I’m happy with, wish it was higher, but I’ll take the fact that it’s going down as a win.
Day 39 - homeworkout app making me do multiple variety's of press-ups. Bloody thing
Wheezy huffy puffy run at lunchtime
Another WILD swim in Loch Morlich this morning. Beautifully calm with a little sprinkling of rain, like glitter on the still water.

And then a wee run in the Glenmore area this evengin with the Cairngorm Runners.
As the weather has been so kind, most days I’ve been heading out for an hour each evening after work either on the road or along the local river bank on the fatty.
Yesterday was a wash out so had a great recovery day, stretches and foam rollering whilst watching the football.
Did an hour of resistance training this evening and a bike ride planned for tomorrow.
Always good to see and read what everyone has been doing! Although as always, a little envious of some.😀
Day 40 - surprised that I've made it this far without a day off. Today was a turbo session using wahoo SYSTM app, 24.14 km in 52 minutes, early-ish session and I'm starting to feel the lack of a rest day again, so wasn't at my best earlier.
Still hanging in there after forty days. In fact quite enjoying it really. It's made me do half hour stretch routines on days where "recovery" would have been a giant pack of crisps on the couch.
Have got back into running a bit, though a tight hamstring has kept both pace and distance down.
Decent turbo ride last night, no photos thankfully. Off to try out a new running club this evening.
I’ve not managed everyday, but probably 30 of them. Starting to feel a bit fitter and changing a bit of shape.
Definitely starting to become habit forming.
Day 40. Another swim - Loch Insh, a balmy 9.6C.

Day 40 - yesterday that is. Retrieved the pull up bar from under my bed and restarted my calisthenics workouts at a very early stage. All body weight but now involving calisthenics based movements with a view to be able to be much stronger and lift up and over the bar at some point. Not done this for a while due to wrist injury, Mrs Fezza joined in and 2/3 kids also joined in. Wrist feels pretty good this morning which is a very good sign.
Keeping up with the daily exercise, strictly speak I did miss one day but was up and down about 36m of scaffolding and walked about 3 miles around London that day so I'll let myself off. Just need to reel back on the stuffing my face front.....
Day 41, turbo session at what felt like dawn otherwise work was going to scupper this, turbo session using wahoo SYSTM app 28.17 km in 60 minutes.
Getting dangerously close to completing half of this.
Grfeat pics @scotroutes and top effort, loch swim and a 50km ride. Respect sir.
Still plodding on. I've been out on the new ebike for the last two days. It's brilliant... covered over 70km with 1500m of climbing (over the two days) on a single charge. This means I can get out and do proper loops without completely wrecking myself. So happy with it 🙂
Having a slightly easier day today; short walk probably.
Bought a new jacket too, so no excuses!
Day 40 - core exercises via my homeworkout app. Gonna see if I can persuade the boys to come for a little ride on the bikes now!
I'm back on the bike after 2 weeks of injured hand and man-flu. Last night's tail wind made the 20 mile commute a breeze. This morning's headwind had me coughing up all kinds of yellow nastiness.
Walk up the head of the lickle Valley yesterday

Run up the railway line in Broughton, with the boys on bikes, today

Day 41. Chilled day. Spent an hour and a half in the home gym doing a wee Zwift warm-up, some weights and a yoga session.
RGT race yesterday, down on the power which I'm 100% blaming on the hard turbo session on Monday and the intervals on Tuesday. Another run later today.
