Day 17 - a quick Zwift D group ride for 40 minutes. Did a bit of walking this afternoon too but nothing that I would call proper exercise (mucking about with RC cars) so a nice chilled day after a relatively big effort yesterday.

Day 17  - Off for a wee swim today, so 1 hour walk each way for about 10 minutes in the water. The wee loch is at 570m so wasn't unsurprisingly chilly at 8.2C.

Run yesterday, shifting a couple of tonne of rubble today. Also helping for 8 hrs at cub camp yesterday. Which I think should count at least double.

I'm failing at the 100 days challenge.
I'll try for the 100hrs logged on Strava.
I did a lot of ladder climbing today and a 15 minute walk to the pub n back.
I'm rarely stationary during the day so I suppose that's a win. The additional 30 minutes is hard.

Fitting a granite fireplace and skirting. Followed by a 2!mile walk with the youngest to go and see my nephew at the café/bar he works at. Only had a coffee, no beer.

Then after dinner a quick spin on the MTB to the woods in the dark. Glad of this challenge as it got me out on the bike when I wouldn't have normally done it. Needed the ride after my impromptu 10k yesterday.

Not feeling great. I fear I'm not on track. Went for a reasonable dog walk to check on the old gravestone.

Friday: an easy recovery ride on the turbo. Probably wouldn't have bothered if it hadn't been for the challenge...

Saturday: 80km road bike ride with mates. No pics, but it was a lovely sunny day, not too hot, and no wind. Pretty much perfect weather for riding.

Yesterday: 20km trail run/hike up a mountain. Most of the group are signed up for a local ultra next weekend - I'm volunteering, rather than running it this year - so short-but-sweet was the order of the day.
The locals weren't too impressed:

I'm struggling with it. Did a 90 min cycle to get paint yesterday but I'm knackered today. I'll be doing a longer day at work today so the thought of going for a walk after work is a bit depressing.

The Covid and Flu jab upset my equilibrium on Tuesday last week so have not felt up to exercising until today. Off Road ride 14.7 miles, up to Greenham Common, along to Brimpton and back along the Canal.
I am back in the program....

@kennyp - well spotted. I've had my (swimming) eye on it for a wee while.

Day 18 - Zwift Academy Workout 5. 48 minutes pushing harder than I'm used to!

Just done Stage 1 of Race Like A Champ on Zwift, the Harrogate UCI circuit. It was bloody tough but somehow I managed to get round the lap and up the KOM faster than I did when I was at a much better fitness level and during one of the STW races! I'm guessing I'll pay for it tomorrow...

Back on the bike 🙂

Day 18: Gym first thing (chest & side delts) but pushed for time so thought I'd get a run in later. I didn't, but squeezed in a 5k walk with the dog.

@stanley 🙌

Sunday dog walk and out on the road for an hour this evening. Amazing sunset sky which is one of the treasures of this challenge.

Back in the groove with his. Last week saw four 30 minute tempo sessions on the turbo, with a 5k trail run on the Friday. Saturday was skydiving and Sunday was apple picking and cider making.

I have to admit that the run has messed me up, so this evening’s turbo session was a little lighter than normal. I’ll see if tomorrow is any better, but it just shows how out of practice I am.

Day 18, turbo session using wahoo systm app squeezed in between family stuff, 18 km in 40 minutes.

If it wasn’t for this challenge I wouldnt have been motivated to do anything.

Wahoo pyramids of power. Was ok. Head getting better but my lungs are asthmatic post covid. So I'll be hunting out the inhaler which is usually only used for tough cold sessions

Stanley and Scotroutes winning this thread so far for ultimate motivation, exercising no matter what other circumstances involved in life and also for pure lunacy swimming in the wilds of the Scottish hills.

Day 18 - short amount of time means a quick homeworkout app jobbie. More than I would normally do, as others have said this whole thread is helping me recording something here is encouraging me to do so.

Did an almost 10k run on Saturday for the first time in a year. Play in the woods on the bike on Sunday night for 40 minutes and another local ride on the bike today for an hour and a bit.

Probably run on Tue & Wed, bike Thu and we're away for the weekend, so running on Fri, Sat & Sun, along with drinking too much 🍻

This challenge is really getting me out when I wouldn't normally, which is great.

Bike and sunset

Well I'm still going! Had a couple of 'ropey' days where I have only managed a 30 minute walk. Combination of work and black dog, but, still going. I've purposefully forgotten what day we are on so that it doesn't seem an unachievable task.

Day 19, early doors swim 2.24 km in 50 minutes. Knackered now.

But it is starting rather bizarrely to feel easier. Obviously I'm fairly constantly tired, but it is working.

7 mile ride in to town, sit down at the desk, check my phone while I logged on, and find out Mrs Pondo has tested positive for covid, so a 7 mile ride straight back out again!

Edit: Had one of my closest near misses, on the A38 blue route - taxi pulling across totally without looking for traffic on the cycle path. Sketchy!

2 big days in Afan over the weekend - awesome.
So last night's post-dinner 40 minute zwift was a struggle both mental and physical. The streak continues.
Unsure what to do tonight.

Day 18 - 35 minute morning swim and a 80 minute session on the paddle board in the evening

Day 19 - a pre-work 30 minute paddle board session. Tonight may be a walk across Milton Keynes to visit Fourteen Sky Bar. That's a 5 mile round trip but the beer may negate any benefits of the stroll.

I have been watching this since you all started asking for people to sign up. I even had a good time reading the previous years thread.

I gave up cycling a good few years ago as it was killing my knees. Every time i tried to get going i got a month of fun then pure pain. Eventually succumbing to being overweight and pretty unhappy at not being able to burn off energy. 11 weeks ago i got a weights rack and various pieces of equipment for my birthday and have been following the Stronglifts 5x5 ever since. I 'qualify' for the everyday exercise because i walk my two dogs 30mins twice per day and the stronglifts session takes me about 1h15 inc warmup 3 times per week.

8kgs weight loss (Must be more fat as i will surely be adding muscle). Squatted 107.5kgs 25x last night 🙂 Deadlift is over 100kgs and all others rising slowly.

Thanks to whoever started this.

Day 19 then.

Another walk/swim/walk. Glenmore up to An Lochan Uaine. Water was a wee bit warmer at 9.8C. We didn't see any of the infamous leeches. Post-swim lunch at the Pine Marten.

Then, in an effort to test out my dodgy ankle, I did a leisurely 5km run in the early evening, managing to miss the stunning sunset by getting back home 15 minutes early! Pleased to report that the ankle seems fine. I've been missing my running, especially now we've started this challenge again.

Tomorrow looks very stormy so it'll be indoors sessions of some sort.

Day 19 - FAIL. Lots going on yesterday meaning by the time I got chance to do anything I was fully burnt out and just wanted to sit down and do nothing for a few moments before bed. So did exactly that.

Doing fairly well here. Some mad busy weekends so trying to make sure I spend time on my feet.
Trying for 10km a day on the gravel bike. Getting a bit sloppy in places - wondering how well I’ll go on the mtb when I have to go back to that.
Hopefully pushing bigger gears for a few weeks will have helped

Day 20 - not a lot, but more than yesterday, plus some actual adult socialising which I've not done for a while with friends. A homeworkout app jobbie at 9pm, anything is better than the traditional nothing for me. Feeling rundown/fedup this week so trying to power through that. Just need a bike ride to clear that ideally.

Yesterday I did a short strength session (resistance bands / full body routine). Wow... can't believe how much strength I've lost over the last couple of weeks. I knew that I felt weak but being able to complete just 5 press-ups was a bit of a shocker. Ah well, don't need a beach-body at the moment.

I've a visit to the doc's for my next Zoladex implant this morning, then a MTB ride later. I'm so looking forward to this that I couldn't sleep last night (the riding bit, not the implant bit) 🙂

Day 21, 3 weeks done ! No alcohol, better diet and exercise every day. Seems to be working, though I'm not getting any faster, just fitter - which TBH I'll take as a win.

Today was Swim 2.7 km in 60 minutes.

@stanley - hope all goes well and great to see you are still up&about and enjoying this challenge. Stellar effort sir.

A half hour lunch walk that became a one hour walk cos I dropped my phone and had to go back for it (doofus). Gonna do some bodyweight stuff too

On the plus side my walk (almost entirely inadvertently) took me right through the middle of where the pheasant shoot were about to do a drive.

Sad gamekeeper face.

Hey Mogrim .... How are those RGT races?

I've only just started investigating the RGT side of Wahoo, but there do not seem to be many people in any of the races I have half glanced at ..... And I need as many people as possible so that I stand half a chance of not coming last

@Ro5ey

None of the races are anything like as massive as a big Zwift race. For good and bad. Today's race is at 20:00 Madrid time (I assume that's 7PM in the UK), and currently there are 28 of us signed up. It's a handicap race so assuming everyone plays by the rules it should be big enough to get a couple of reasonable sized groups going. A bigger one I like is the West London race that takes place every other Wednesday (next one's next week), last week there were 84 of us which is definitely big enough for groups etc.

I've only really looked at midweek races running in the evening, so I have no idea if there are some other massive races lurking in the calendar. But generally I do get the feeling there are lots of events, but not many riders.

Edit: should say the races themselves are fun - you need to keep an eye on the other riders, avoid getting dropped, know when to attack etc. I generally log on to the event 15 minutes early to warm up - it's basically a sprint out of the gate at the start if you want to avoid getting dropped immediately.

Resistance training for an hour on Tuesday, road ride last night and just back from an hour round the local singletrack on the single speed.
I am feeling good but know its early days and experience of previous years means I’m holding back just a little.

That's the first 21 days done and have to say I'm starting to see some benefits now (albeit in a small way). Have managed at least one type of exercise every day (sometimes two or three) even if they've often been small like a walk with a dog or a yoga session.

I'm probably like a lot of folk on here in that in a typical 100 day period I probably exercised about 75 to 80 of those days on average anyway (more in summer, fewer in winter). The good thing about this challenge however is that on the days where I'd maybe have done nothing (justifying to myself by calling them recovery days) I'm now doing maybe half an hour of stretching, or a short leg loosening walk or cycle.

So yes, am enjoying it and feeling better for it.

Headed down to Blackpool tomorrow for the Half Man Half Biscuit gig so planning to divert via the Lake District for a wee swim.

@kimbers it's quite small but I got about 12km going round a few times. It's not fenced off so you could ride it at night. I will when I pull my finger out and buy some decent lights.

I had another "rest" day yesterday. I've decided it's unsustainable for me. I'm gardener so I'm exercising all day anyway so doing an extra half an hour Monday to Friday feels like too much. I am using it to motivate me to go for a walk whilst my daughter is at football which is three times a week and to make sure I do something on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully this approach will mean I can keep it going beyond Christmas which is better in the long run.

Really enjoying this. So far I think I've had 3 days where I've only done a couple of walks with the dog. But other than that I've been out for a run or on the bike every day.

Definelty feeling my fitness and energy levels increasing to something like they were when I cycle commuted 60-90 miles a week.

I'm starting to get tired.

30 minute tubo sessions every week day for two weeks (and pushing myself on them) is starting to take its toll and that, coupled with my dog totally destroying my sleep for the last, well, months, means I am really, feeling the strain.

I've got another session planed for tonight where I will not try and hold 300+W for as long as I can and then I can hopefully rest tomorrow (when I go skydiving) and Sunday (when we have people over). I just hope that my dog lets me sleep tonight. I feel like hell.

Day 21 - busy day again so only a small chance to get anything done. Homeworkout app with a load of bodyweight stuff but quite short. In maintaining the fact that it's more than I would normally do, which I'm ok with.

Fortunately today I have the morning free. Once I've dropped the youngest off at school it'll be exercise/drumming/ps4 for a couple of hours until dinner time.

Planning on a few hours at rampworx tomorrow, new skates to try that I hope fit better than my previous couple of pairs.

Yesterday I managed my first "Proper" MTB ride since C-Day: 25km and 600M of climbing on the local trails. Very little strength or fitness left, but it felt ace to be out on the hills and looking across to Kinder 🙂

Anyway, I have to dash... I'm getting married in 2 hours 🙂

I'd change at least a couple of those turbo sessions to recovery rides - nice easy spin with Netflix on, for example. Beasting yourself daily is fine for a week, but isn't sustainable.

Congrats Stanley!

Still going well here - mostly zwift this last week with the odd 5k run. Had a brilliant zwift race yesterday and felt really strong but just did one this morning and legs were pretty dead. Away to Crete this weekend but hotel has a gym so will keep it going doing that, or running/swimming.

Congrats @stanley

I am starting to get tired, I’ve managed to keep it going for 22 days and will keep going, but fek me I’m tired, starting to get cramp on the turbo and in the pool after 2.5 km, which is a sure sign of overdoing it and not having enough rest.

Day 22 turbo session using wahoo systm 27.5 km in 60 minutes and a 46 min 3.5 km fast-ish walk with the dog. So all good. Only a 0.3 kg weight loss this last week, so long as it keeps going down.
