Karate with the eldest and a half hour plod around the common whilst the youngest finished scouts. We're off!
Is the stabiliser Chris Martin?Nearly finished my Gallon of water.
Got a pleasant afternoon run around the local country park in.
Usually I'm a morning exercise person, and if it hasn't happened by 9 it doesn't usually happen that day. A hectic Monday morning and the challenge changed that.
Back to normal this morning, off out now.
Ok, on dog days, at least 10k steps for me which should be possible as we both like a wander.
This morning up and in the garage for 6:20, goblet, split and single lead deads plus some shoulders for good measure, then I'll be cycling into work, but that's not unusual (I actually started Tuesday/Thursday garage gym sessions a few months back and just get on with it no matter what).
Weekend will be a challenge as Friday will be in car a good portion of the day, Saturday there's a boat trip and ash scattering plus travelling back to an airport before a trip to Prague Sunday, sure I can fit something in each day though.
I managed to persuade the wife to join me on a "Pilates for Beginners" youtube series. Slightly shorter video than the regulation 30min, but it would have been a hard (aka impossible) sell to get her to do a longer one. It was quite fun, and we've both learned the importance of leaving the dog in the corridor before starting, as she also thought it was great fun 🙂
So day 1 complete.
I'm in, for the first time.
Question - it sounds like walking counts? I have recently started playing golf, so assuming 4 hours of golf would count?

Walking definitely counts, even if it is golf 😛
I definitely count walking. When we get into (a) pish weather or (b) proper snowy weather, it's often the best way to get out. I'll just stick on a set of decent waterproofs and do some mini-exploring when it's really crap and I'm always keen to get out in the snow. If it puts in a decent appearance before Christmas you'll see my photos on here.
I count walking only if I'm really desperate. My default is riding the bike.
Gravel last night and out on the MTB this morning. Nothing too serious - not mega fast but tried to fit in at least one really horrible hill. Last night was a belter for it.
I tend to name my Strava rides after wildlife or nature that I see while I'm out, to try and focus my attention on more than just my stem. Spent about five minutes watching a roe deer that just wasn't frightened by me, backlit by the sunset.

just joined, thanks Scotroutes et al. I don't log my regular dog walks (about 8k a day) on Strava as don't like clogging up my recorded activities, so will stick with rides (incl virtual) and swimming unless I get desperate 🙂

I count kangaroo. See some great stuff sometimes. Males fighting or joey's running after their mums. They're a pain to photograph though as they tend to scarper just as they get in range.
Day #2 turbo ride for 45 mins and a 50 min 4.16 km walk along the Thames instead of working through lunch.
only mildly curious but why are some strava updates coming through as discussions ? Didn’t know Strava did discussions.
anyway pics.

Lunch run along the prom for me today, maybe a walk with the family after tea

Better than the summer...

bike to work and back yesterday - 1hr 30
Swim today 30 minutes
Bike to work tomorrow....... and on and on.
Day 2: Went out after work for 45 mins on the MTB for a bit of skills training on flat ground. Mostly wheelies (so useful!), manuals and turns. Only covered ~7 km such was the pace.
1k swim outside.at lunchtime. Wanted a gym session in the evening but feel a little lethargic.
Just realised I can add photos!
This afternoon along the river.
Good luck to everyone and make sure the positive start doesn't wane as the nights draw in!
I won't be partaking this year as I have other things that are monopolizing my time right now but I will try to increase my exercise as the days tick along. Just looking it the photos and stories we should motivate me to get out a few times.
Yesterday I walked halfway across London.
Today i've walked back halfway across London, now the usual Glasgow station pedestrian shuffle, then home from station. Likely 12km by the time I'm home..
Tomorrow is a cycle commute - train and across Falkirk.
Thursday is a train then cycle down Clydebank.
So far all activity planned is utility!
First run in a while tonight, 5K & definitely felt it
Should have worn a headtorch, but the supermoon helped
Hammered home how important exercise is with the news that my very overweight footy & beer loving younger brother had a heart arythmia and was rushed to A&E today, he's fine for now, but the tragedy is he used to love playing football not just watching it
Stinker of cold worse today, not a chance of strength or cardio. Settled for stretches, sun salutations and slav squats to unknot and decramp before bed. Goodnight all.
^Some sort of lurgy here to,started first day of the challenge!I've just tried battling through it.Hope I don't pay for it tomorrow.
I've had that stupid cold for a week. Think it's pretty much done now.
Anyway, early start for me today as I'm going away on the motorbike for 5 days. Thought I'd get a strength session in first thing before setting off, then aim to do short walks every day whilst away. Not great at early starts these days!
Day 24 for me 🙂

Glorious morning to be out! 30 miles on the gravel bike. Definitely a "jour sans" - the legs felt pretty hollow but it was nice to be out and the hills were big. Saw a massive, unnibbled fly agaric and a kestrel which was nice.
Day 3: another run/plod a smidging over 5 k this evening. Son 2 accompanied me on my bike which broke the monotony of my size 11s hitting the tarmac. We tried wheelies on the way back. Ace!

Still managing my two lots of exercise a day despite illness. Good blast along the Tees last night listening to The Jam seems to have driven out some bugs.Sports Science lecture at the Arc beforehand also provided food for thought. Not struggling with drinking a gallon of water a day either.About time I knocked down my Caffeine habit anyway.
20k on the xc bike tonight. No photos as it's a bit boring round here but was nice to get out on the bike in the sun.
A busy work day, and then an unplanned trip to the vets (all ok), so had to make do with an hour in the rather warm Wattbike Cave on Watopia…
outdoor pool swim in the sunshine in the morning, hopefully ?
Today felt weird. 30mins of trx body weight stuff. Don't feel I've actually exercised but did feel sore doing the horrible plank crunch.
I've had a sore back since midday Monday, but it doesn't seem to affect my running so I've been doing that, including a short run at lunchtime today. And this evening I went to the doctor's, and apparently I have shingles... hopefully I'll be able to carry on running, although with an unpleasant rash on my back I'm guessing any long mountain runs with a backpack are out of the question 🙁
I'm not doing it, but I'm not, not (if that makes sense). So far three evenings in a row on zwift has me mulling over lunchtime runs or a mini circuit session for variety.
Weekend is going to be tricky, I'm away Saturday meeting mates so will have to squeeze something in first thing in the morning, Sunday I'll be trying to score back brownie points for having a whole night away.
Day 4: 1.5 hours of early morning gruelling singletrack with a couple of PRs.

Out before the sun could be bothered to peep out the clouds. 22 miles on the XC bike this morning. Two big climbs, some great descents and the trails are still dry, felt much better and stronger than yesterday. The robins are getting more prominent now, and there were more roe deer out. Loads and loads of grouse too.
So yesterday I was feeling pretty underwhelmed with myself. Still taking it steady due to covid recovery etc and almost felt like I was 'ticking a done box' with my days activity.
Today I have muscle aches in all the right places. Who would have thought it. It's actually motivated me more than I was expecting tbh.
A bit time-crunched today but managed 30 minutes of weights plus 30 minutes on the turbo. The latter failed to upload though, so did it really happen 🙂
So far so good, although seems to have some kind of lethargy / low energy, possibly just work being busy.
Day -1 - Glentress Red (classic)
Day 1 - a 7km run in place of a planned rowing session (too brutal for low energy)
Day 2 - 40 mins Yoga
Day 3 - Mobility and Isometric exercises
Day 4 - a lunchtime MTB jaunt round the local trails of Roslin
Onwards!
